Hoping to trade. I would need a replacement to swap same day. At the very least, I have been offered to order any bumper of my liking and then swap once the new bumper arrives. If I can't or don't find what I'm looking for, I'll just hack it up like @EatSleepTacos did to his. So far I'm not finding anyone with rear light cutouts and I need those for tailgaters :luvya:

Wow! Kudos to you both! I know how daunting getting things unpacked and put away can be.

True story, before we bought our first house in 1992 the wife and I moved like 10 times from 83' to then. We got pretty proficient with it. Pizza and beer grease a lot of wheels.

I'm after the swing out....can make it fit on my bumper... I've got one that's about 50% done, that I'm building from scratch...fits my current bumper.

Then again, about broke....Spent $3400 on seat covers, tires, brakes, and front wheel bearings in the last week. Now the wife want's her shot at the check book....

When I peel the cut vinyl out from around those stickers, I rip the " j " clean off the backing paper a lot. I'm experimenting with new brands now.

    I'd be down for that.

I might try removing the swingout and just run without it to see and make sure I can get by without it. Might do that this weekend.

Picked up my DOM tubing from my mom's house yesterday for the rear crossbrace that will replace the stock junk once the frame is boxed.

    Weekend plans checklist:

    - Clean the glass inside the truck and recoat the windshield on the truck
    - Same as above but on the wife's car
    - adjust headlights on the truck; driver's side is high and needs to come down IIRC
    - remove swingout and do a test run before I really make up my mind about the future of the bumper/truck setup
    - Tailgate shock; will be easier to install and test with swingout removed; need a threaded rivnut tool and hardware.
    - Pull driver's door lock and window panel and fix rattle (sound deadening available for solution; I hope)
    - Spindle paint; either PC or this stuff:

I spoke with the owner of Running4Tacos yesterday. He is sending the correct harness and it should arrive before the weekend. If I get the harness in, I will try for that too.

Rain and colder temps are expected this weekend so I will see how much I am able to get done. It will be nice being in a garage for once and out of the elements. Looking forward to it.

Out of curiosity, why is the swingout not staying?

Cumbersome. Just moved (as most of you know) and it was just a PITA to have to open, engage, load up, disengage, close and lock up etc etc EVERY SINGLE TIME I needed to load/unload the bed.

Towards the end, everything got so hectic, I almost drove off without closing and engaging the swingout....

Like I said, I will also gain approximately 1-1.5 feet of space in length in the garage. The swingout is nice to have and the rotopax mounts and fold down table will be nice while camping etc; I just haven't used any of that in the last 12 months it has been installed (in 6 days it will be 1 year since the install).

Maybe I will remove it and only put it on when I need the bed space, fold down table and rotopax. We will have to see how testing goes.

Do you think a dual swing out would have been better B?

Hard to say honestly. On one hand, that's another swingout to worry about and close etc, but I don't think that would be a deal breaker.

It would be nice not having to worry about space behind the vehicle so you can maneuver around a full width swingout. Dual swingouts would be nice for that. Luckily, the tongues on U-Hauls are long so I was able to open the single swingout all the way and navigate around it.

I always wonder how it would be in a parking lot, say home depot or whatever if I am picking up things, have to drop the tailgate anyway and I was wondering about a dual. I suppose the tire mounted there would stick out pretty far regardless.

The spare sticks out SO far! haha

It's nice to have out of the bed, but now, I don't really need the bed as much again since the move is done for the most part.

I have a BOLT lock on my swingout engagement handle so that no one can open it in a parking lot and then the swing out flies open and breaks a ton of shit. When I was picking up some 2x10x8's last week, I had to unlock the BOLT lock, swing the swingout open half way, unlock the topper rear glass, close the swingout and put the lock back on (I don't trust anyone) and then toss the wood in the bed with it sticking out and resting on the tailgate next to the spare.

That process, for the most part, is every time I want to put something in the bed or remove it. Add a pop&lock tailgate lock for bigger items.

I am anxious to test now.

Right? The more you think about it the more you realize how nice it'll be without one. We took a truckload to goodwill yesterday and it was so nice to not mess with a swingout.

    Sounds like heaven.

I get anxiety every time I know I need to use the bed and repeat the entire swingout process in my head over and over again.

i've lived both lives, and that's why I ended up trading my old bumper for a swing out bumper. I had a swingout tailgate, then a normal tailgate, and finally a swingout bumper. I think having a softopper is a bonus, as I just have to pop up the back window and I don't need to fiddle with anything else.

For camping and what not, I think swingouts are the way to go, and if you need to use a trailer. If you don't use your swingout, having the more space and less weight in the rear would be huge positives. Before Hacking the bumper up, I'd remove it like you were going to do and see if you miss it. I'm sure there's someone out there that would gladly trade you!

    For sure man!

Trades are coming up short. Basic SOS and Relentless HC. No rear light cutouts on either. SOS needs to be re-PC'd and the Relentless is bare needing to be PC'd (the guy didn't sound too amped on getting that done for a trade to happen). The Relentless has a low hanging 2" receiver as well.

I feel that the trades would be too far apart and cash would be needed on the other end; my trade includes 2 2-gal water Rotopax with the mounts and lock and 2 RI flush mount LED pods.

hmm can you keep your stuff and maybe trade straight up? If you factor in your time and labor removing or hacking the other bumper to what you want, that could help justify the trade?

Either way, rig is looking sick as always my dude!
