Farm boss is a good saw my dad has one. It's better than the lower end home owner ones. I used all pro grade and bought them used. Sold them for just a little less than I bought them for yrs later

    @EatSleepTacos

I'm going to keep and cherish this envelope FOREVER! I'm going to frame it and hang it on my wall next to my Michael Jordan stuff!!!

Tried swapping in some LED DRLs tonight and boy what a clusterfuck! First off they were cheap as fuck:

    3CB0A932-6CEF-4B0F-9876-5D36DC9CEC78.jpg

Plugged the first one in and it BARELY fit in the harness. Tested. NOTHING worked. No DRLs, no dash lights, no corner lights and no fogs!!! Plugged the stock bulbs in again. Same results. Came inside to eat, regroup and research.

Found out that the TAIL 10A under the dash near the hood release controls everything I mentioned above that was not working. Sure enough, it was blown. Threw a new 10A in and everything was working again. From the photo, you can see that the fogs failed upon the final time removing the bulb from the harness (tested and retested everything SEVERAL times). I'm just glad everything is fixed and working as it should.

I've already reached out to the lighting manufacturer. I got dicked on mine since they drop shipped them to me and they didn't come directly from the seller. The ones shown below are only white (not switchbacks) and the ones I got are Amber only. Trying to find out if he can send me some QUALITY Amber LEDs since that's what I paid for and thought I bought.

    PISSED.

Why are you in my head? :annoyed:

Ever since you mentioned this, it's been in the back of my mind to do the same. After moving out of the city (ALL trucks are required to either be in a garage overnight or bed covered otherwise you get a ticket) I don't really NEED the topper now.

Ultimately, I would REALLY like a trailer where the RTT and all the gear could be mounted permanently; just grab and go. I would DIY the trailer so that, in the event that I need to bring my bike somewhere, I could tow it also. As the trailer idea is looking more and more grim (no where to store it currently; plans to extend the driveway but that was just in passing with the wife), I am thinking that going back to the bed bars and RTT is the way to go. Maybe even a soft topper to keep bigger items dry temporarily and fold it down to haul the bike if I need to.

I really need to decide if I am going to keep the bike, RTT and accessories etc. I also have a fox/batwing that I got on a group buy that I have never used. That would go too. It would be cool to keep the RTT mounted permanently under a deployed soft topper even. Then disassemble as needed to haul the bike around (RARE).

I really don't like how the soft topper fades. Maybe a tan one would look cool on MGM.

Thoughts!?!? Talking it out DEFINITELY makes sense, however, due to location, being able to move this stuff at a price I would be happy with to offset new setup costs and in a timely manner, would prove to be difficult (swingout as an example).

Some of it is that. Some of it is getting someone to drop 4 figures on my stuff. I won't be asking in the hundreds for this topper. Not with what I have into it.

I don't think anyone local will drop the coin.

If only you weren't in chicago...

Honestly toyed with going the reverse of what you are planning. shell and prinsu toprac. But I am kinda in this weird limbo of not knowing what I wanna do.

    0. keep as is, works well
    1. ditch C4 rack and get a hard cap (won't fit in new garage)
    2. ditch C4 rack and get a slightly more custom rack made locally to fit a few wants I have (might fit in new garage)
    3. move tent to DIY expo trailer, convert truck to LT

I just really dig your build haha plus I just think hard shells are way more functional than softoppers. But I suppose if youre not camping as much then It would be more practical to have a soft topper? IDK I just think you should stick with the shell you have. I will never get rid of mine unless I throw on a GFC or something similar. I have all my gear back there in my drawers and currently working on a badasss solar setup with a Dometic fridge and I have it all secured back there because of the shell. Plus those windoors!

Compared to the Drifter, they are sold at a discount. :spending:

Days after returning from a trip are always ROUGH. Managed to get some shit don't that I have been putting off for a while.

First, I went to the store and grabbed the supplies to start on my spindles. At $34 a can, I skipped the primer and went with a rattle can. I plan to do 5-6 coats of the enamel giving each coat 24 hours to cure and going heavier and heavier as the coats increase. I figured I could skimp and not go full send on the primer this way. Prep will be the main focus anyways.

    34E092A9-A9CF-4808-B869-CBC114F95C77.jpg

Next, I worked on the passenger recovery point. Because Chandler massaged some Prius at 40mph, the recovery point no longer accepts a regular d-shackle. I have 2 soft shackles, but with the sharp edges, I needed to round them down so the soft shackle wouldn't fray and fail. Thanks to the link for the Dremel bits from @EatSleepTacos I finally got that done.

*DISCLAIMER* Be sure to wear a full face shield and long sleeves. Metal shards fly EVERYWHERE. Especially on a day as windy as today.

Lastly, I hung my shop lights. Definitely happy with the lighting in the garage now and I still have one more to hang. I'm thinking on the truck side over the hood if I find myself working on something while the door is closed. Recommendations welcome!

Test shots were during the day, but I just went out to the garage and can confirm, the light output now is GREAT! Really happy with them!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!
