Well, it took about 2 hours, but they're done and I'm ready for my overland gold star..

So, what’s up with the whole anti-shackle flip talk?

 

It's fine for non-DD vehicles. Ride is rough and a lot more goes into it than I expected. Yes, I was young, naive and stupid as I previously explained. All trucks come with the inverted shackles from factory for a reason. You lose towing capacity, ride is rough and you introduce vibes and alter driveline angles. I never really cared or noticed before when I wasn't driving my truck much. I was thoroughly impressed will how much droop I maintained simply reinverting the shackle. The ride quality improved greatly and I truly enjoy driving the truck again.

I think if you are wanting to go the shackle flip mount, you should just do the 63 swap with Ford shock towers and 14" shocks minimum.

The shackle flip is a midway point and does more harm than good. Again, I was young, naive and stupid and I fully admit that.

 

To be fair, up until like maybe a year ago, shackle flip was the only option for rear leaf mount modification. The two hanger options are pretty new to the market.

 

Validation....

I wish Archive and BAMF came out with their kits at the same time. Obviously, I would have went that route. Live and learn, like I said.

I already posted the Daks and flip kit for sale on the local BookFace pages. Got a couple of hits. Hoping to nail down a committed buyer soon and then pull the trigger on the Deavers. BAMF shackles are due for delivery and I need to get the Deavers on order really soon. Crunch time.

 

Now it’s time to touch up those nasty sliders! They’re going to rust off your truck...

 

Yes I just need time. This was done while waiting for the wife's tires to be plugged at Firestone so I could go pick it up. Sliders are a more involved process and usually done around fall before winter. I hope to try that high performance industrial enamel that I picked up at least on the top, joints and where they mount to the frame. Then, I'll be ready for the mall.
