I'll check my flat stock supply and pick some up if needed.

    Appreciate the input brother.

Aluminum would work just as well as steel. Hell, even wood might help a little. Granted the two trucks I saw that happen to were wheeled hard through SoCal deserts- so washboard roads and constant vibration come into play. Either way, an ounce of precaution and all that.

Now I need a LT sponsor....

All good my guy. Learned a lot on this trip that I otherwise would not have. She hid her behavior on this trip very well at home and around me. It's as if I didn't recognize who this person was during the week (bonus point to you if this sounds familiar in any way lol)

If you use aluminum make sure both the rad support and chunk of aluminum are de-burred well and coated well with something. This would probably be a good application for POR 15. Make sure to coat the insides of the bolt holes if there are burrs they will scratch through paint and the dissimilar metals will cause electrolysis accelerating oxidation and rust.

Also make sure the rubber/plastic bumpers are snug, they will eliminate much of the shaking and eliminating as much shaking as possible will help reduce stress and help hinges, latches, pins all live longer.

Oh, when I was working on my exhaust project before I left, I figured out what is wrong with my angle grinder. The cord is jacked the fuck up. I had to lock the switch in the on position and then smash the power cable into the ground for it to turn on...super fucking safe; OHSA approved.

I think 7 or 8 years+ of a Harbor Freight corded angle grinder is good enough. Time to go wireless and a better brand.

I have to run to Home Depot tomorrow to get some stock for my hood pin project that @GHOST SHIP recommended.

I think I will be picking up this bad girl tomorrow:

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...18-5-0Ah-Battery-2780-20-48-11-1850/305907383

Comes with an extra battery as well compatible with my cordless impact.

    Year of the Flex continues...

Also, interesting call I received on Tuesday. Thanks to public records not being updated in a timely manner, I received a call from a debt collector about my ex-brother in law. They have been unsuccessful in getting in touch with him about a "personal matter" and wanted me to pass along a message.

    OOF.

Going to be returning these hood pins and exchanging them for locking ones (already ordered). I want to get rid of the OEM hood latch (save it but remove it from the truck) and I don't want anyone to be able to get into the hood.

    My mistake. Live and learn.

Why ditch the OEM one? I have both on mine and I like having the redundancy.

I guess so. I just didn't see the need for redundancy, however, thinking about it some more, if I forget or lose the key, at least I can still open the hood regardless. Also, I assume that if I remove the stock hood latch, the hood would shake there too.

God-fucking-forbid I forget or lose the key and need to get under the hood when it's life or death of the truck (fire)...

That's another good point I didn't think of, that would be horrible. Even with the key, trying to get it unlocked in a high-stress situation like a fire would be very difficult.
