You can get into a healthy welding setup for under a G. I constantly toy with picking up a kit and learning a skill vs having to beg borrow and steal just to get some 5 second job done.

Yes. I've discussed it on here.

It's becoming more and more of a necessity/reality. Perks of not having anyone to answer to...that and a simple dream of build of building cool shit.

I'm about to rejoin that club ......... Marriage is a fucking joke. Why this state makes people stay in toxic fucking relationships is beyond me.

Definite good and bad to both. I'm very lucky, I get away with a lot for a married man.

I've thought about those class they offer on Groupon. I'm sure it's fine for a base line to see if you like it or to "get the basics". But if I can get a decent kit off marketplace for a reasonable price using some of the money saved not taking the class, teach myself with the help of the interwebs, I don't think that class is necessary.

The internet has come a long way...

I have more freedom than most people I know. She handles the money b/c I suck at it.

    Motorcycle is off limits, though

I'd have to look at my spec sheet. I have a bent spindle so it took some playing to get a useable setup. I need to take it back to them and get it set with more forward caster cuz I rub the back of the well like a mofo on steep turns.

Stick is def harder to pick up than mig. But modern migs with preset dials and stuff are almost akin to hot glue guns with how easy they are. Getting good is a different story (I'm nowhere close), but getting stuff to stick is pretty damn easy.

I guess its a decision between embracing a longer learning curve on stick to mig and understanding the basics in depth or "lol, welder go bzzzzz"

I'm not a smart man, or a fabricator, and I understand it is satire, but I'm willing to bet I can do better than that...
