Was filling up the truck today and when I finished and got back in the truck, this guy comes and asks if I have jumper cables to jump his car. Busted out the jump pack and he got his car started.

He thanked me and said, "you can always count on and trust a guy with a truck."

"A man and his truck is a beautiful thing!"

    Facts.

We got a foot of snow at work last week and all the guys giving me ish every day about how built out my truck is were first to come hat in hand asking for maxtrax, winch lines, and snatch straps to get everyone out.

Did it with a smile on my face. I get to play with my toys on company time?!? Count me in!

Send some of that stuff my way! Winter's aren't what they used to be. Either it's freezing cold and dry or like upper 30's and raining.

I'll be honest, I didn't get any. I was working my tail off for 2 hours getting employee cars and our contractors snowplow unstuck.

I should probably give an update on a few things going on.

Nothing special with the truck really. Got some small stuff to install. I want to adjust me headlights a little more. I have to update the limb risers and I have a winch box bracket coming tomorrow:

    https://shop.tandemoffroad.com/coll...t-2nd-gen-tacoma-05-15-winch-controller-mount

Tires are still back ordered until January (to the best of my knowledge). Wheels are not available yet until mid-January either. In case they are delayed or not actually available in 17's, I do have back ups planned.

Been working on some small updates around the house and in the garage as well.

    Lots going on.

January is going to be busy.........

Glad it could help. It was a good option to me; simple bracket, price is right and fast shipping. Especially given the state of the world right now.

Took some adjusting and cuss words, but it's done. It's a lot more sturdy than my previous mount.

    Preface:

    - Garage Door opener is about a year old; maybe just less than.

    - I was hoping to replace the garage door soon but it might be not as quick as I thought.

Been looking into either of these kits. Can anyone recommend either or something else?

    https://www.acehardware.com/departm.../insulation-and-house-wrap/insulation/5437298

    https://www.acehardware.com/departm.../insulation-and-house-wrap/insulation/5766928

Thought about going this route instead as the reviews mention that the kits above add weight to the door. Thought about this instead or a combination of both to help with weight and cost saving:

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Owens-C...kob0ESMriNC38D0h1JkaApZAEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

    And then tape them down:

The 2nd Owens Corning kit had a significantly higher R-value than the 1st matador kit or the DIY option, which will retain heat better.

However, if you have a super drafty garage, that's an irrelevant detail since you'll lose that heat everywhere else.

The DIY option looks basically the same as the kits above, its just cheaper since its a DIY job.

Regardless, I replaced my door last spring and lost the thin insulation panels I had on my old door. Its noticeably colder in my garage without them.

Also thinking about having a company out to take a look at the door/framing etc and see what they could potentially do. I think the door is bent or curved. It isn't terrible and it may have a few years left. There isn't a seal around the door so there is some exposure. I would want that looked at/addressed before insulated the door with one of those kits.

The winter isn't too bad as long as it is mild. Two days ago when I was working on the limb risers and winch control box, I was sweating. Granted I run hot and was in a beanie and two upper body layers.

I am just trying to justify certain spending or not spending in case I decide to exit IL. Which, given the current state of a lot of things lately, is going to become more and more likely.

    Fuck Illinois.....

My door is long overdue..old wooden style and pane windows. Really need to get that done this spring..I'd rather just pay someone to do it. I don't spend much time in there but it's just falling apart

Contemplating letting someone do everything asking as the cost is reasonable. If I can do the insulation, I'll just do it.

I would leave the door adjustments and the door seals to the pros

Definitely. I can do most things but if I'm not comfortable, the pros will come.

Like when I was having all those lights done around the house. I'm comfortable swapping fixtures but having to completely wire up new fixtures that have never been there (from scratch), iplewvr that to the professionals.
