Good looking collection! Looks like you're well prepared for some bass fishing.

I'm planning on getting out more this summer than the last 2-3. My gear has been getting neglected most of the year.

This was the stuff I took to Florida this year. I have a bit of a Penn fishing problem, similar to the Milwaukee tool problem. :anonymous:

Alignment is done but I think at least half of the tabs are bent flat.

I reached out to a buddy to try and get them reinforced an more cost effective way to install the taco tabs. If you go to the 5 minute mark of this video, you'll see:

Does anyone have recommendations on the best way to easily bend the tabs back? I presume heat.

Chisel/hammer? Might not even need heat. But a cost effective way if you dont want to buy the TC reinforcements, would be to lay a weld bead behind the stock tabs.

Or send some TC reinforcements to a friend :anonymous: who will weld for cheap and then forward to you. Or this friend might have Marlin reinforcements that he doesnt need anymore and can sell for cheap

I thought about it last night and figured that if I'm in there, might as well go balls deep. I have a couple of places that will do the work. I was thinking we could give it a shot to bend the tabs back and weld a bead behind them, but if the metal is too far gone and pops off, having the TC kit as a backup will be the move.

I have the Marlin kit in the triple bank, but I've read in some threads that people hate the Marlin kit and it's a PITA. That's right from @EatSleepTacos

    In bae we trust.

I have a TC kit coming to me. I think the move is:

    1) bend the tabs back and weld a bead
    - install the TC kit to do it right the first time (probably will just do it and get it over with)
    2) get another alignment
    3) install taco tabs based on the new alignment after the TC kit is installed (have them do it/off-road shop/DIY)

To me this sounds like extra work. If you're welding a bead, might as well be for the TC tabs.

Maybe bend back and wait until you get TC in.

Absolutely. I want to give it a try bending them back myself but I just don't have the ability to weld behind them.

Maybe the first one we can try to bend back or just send it with the TC kit. I'm thinking the latter since I want it done right and not worry about this anymore.

You might have some gold on your hands. Saw on Facebook that Marlin passed away.

I also have a TC kit on hand, but I'm hesitant to use it. I may go JD pivots and the marlin braces would just be extra shit I'd have to cut off.

Maybe once things change, I can justify a few of their items or just some things in general. Being that it is my daily, I cannot tear the truck down for a week (example) and work on it as I please.

I wish on the JD pivots. But I barely wheel anymore, so they would be overkill for my already built truck. I would just be adding the side supports from the Marlin kit, since I have TC reinforcements already

I did this for a buddy and it was honestly a big pain in the dick bending the tabs back up because there is so little meat to grab onto. I bent a few back up and then laid a bead behind the rest for reinforcement and at that point the TC ones wouldn't have been much more effort.
