These things are fun.



When I would go to lock the doors, you would hear the 'locking cycle' noise, but the truck wouldn't beep. It was easy to find which door was causing the issue if you go to lock the doors and just pull the handle, the door opens while the rest remain locked. I knew it was my front passenger door that was not working.

After some searching on TW, I learned that "something" inside the locking mechanism was not set/aligned properly.

I believe that my problem was (1) the circular plastic clip (lower right in pic) was not set in place all the way and (2) the part behind the middle silver pin (left side in the center) was not seating in the metal channel (right side near the door latch) properly. Apparently, I took this apart back in January and only noticed it recently (to the best of my recollection). But the rest of the doors would lock except the front passenger door.

So I took it apart (a couple of times) to ensure that everything was aligned. Had a brand new door actuator replacement solenoid sitting in my toolbox and I threw it in for good measure.

Tested the fuck out of it before putting it all back together. All 4 doors lock and the truck 'beeps' upon locking as normal again.

Win.

We definitely want to get out and about on the east coast. I'm sure we can get something figured out down the road.

Build update:

After the last alignment at Firestone, the master tech was able to get all the numbers in spec with the exception of one side's caster number. It's still a degree to a degree and a half off. I found a few local shops that specialize in alignments on vehicles that are aftermarket with custom suspension components; primarily lifted trucks and "race cars". I have already called a few of them and got quotes etc.

The past few weeks have been absolutely INSANE and I hope to give the closest one to home a call early next week and take it in.

Some of the powder coating on the rear bumper is starting to get a few rust spots. Gonna take care of that next week as well.

I need to give this thing a good bath soon too.
