Well, that was a messy job..

    IMG_0238.jpg IMG_0239.jpg

I am considering doing the french cleating for the cabinets, first, then move on to the polyurethane.

Well, this isn't french cleating or garage cabinets..

    Saturday shenanigans with the wife.

    IMG_0257.jpg IMG_0273.jpg

It didn't run, but we were able to "jump" the batteries back to life and now it runs. It has a cute little light bar (compared to the truck), I removed the broken turn signals and the brake lights will be removed with new ones added and headlights, I removed the 2004 style radio and a broken battery meter. I removed the side mirrors since they block my view perfectly. I removed the crackhead hotwiring, too.

It either needs a new steering box, new suspension components or new wheels or tires as there is a bit of a wobble at speed and so much slop in the steering. But all of that stuff will likely just be replaced with brand new stuff. The tires hold air and the wheels are a bit much for my liking but it's a golf cart; if they arent bent I'll probably just swap the tires.

It came with a flip down windshield and the rear, flip down seats which was a must. I wanted to be able to haul 4 people for when we have visitors but have the ability to pond hop around with my fishing gear and a cooler in the back.

Goal is to lift it and get some new, bigger tires, replace the batteries, probably put a radio back in from this century, get a roof panel that extends over the rear seats, some headlights and replace the broken taillights to be street legal-able, bumper guard, and overall clean it up and enjoy it.

Already have new seat cushions to do the ass juices delete mod, a new steering wheel and some arm rests with cup holders for the rear coming.

It's the perfect project for us to do together and we couldn't be more excited.

Nice, always fun to have a project you work on together as well. At least that's what mine says with the garden, which I hate doing..

Dare I ask re the 2004 style radio..

I don't think I'll ever get sick of this project. Some house projects were pretty annoying when we constantly found things that made us ask ourselves "why would someone do it like that?" But now, those are done and it's mostly just maintenance. Bigger projects are to come but they're years down the road *knocks on wood*.

A bunch of people in the community have carts and use them to get around. So far, we've enjoyed a ride around after dinner almost every night so far. Mostly because we need to test it out and see what gremlins are still lurking. Bunch of questionable crackhead shit. I'm really happy the hotwiring is reversed now.

    Here's a time warp for y'all..

I had a friend that had a second face that was done up to look like the radio had been ripped out. He would put that on and the good face in the case for school.

I could tell you some tales, living in an almost 100 yr old house and whatnot. Yikes. Plus people just did stupid shit before we lived here.

Man, I had a couple of pullout radios before the faceplate gimmick. Almost bought one of the Blaupunkts that used a credit card style system to unlock the radio too.

Back in the 90s I found a Blaupunkt that was a pullout and required a code to play.

I can relate, i have a neck tie holder from the 1960’s attached to my closet door that has somehow survived. It’s actually kind of cool though, it tells you what color ties match what color clothes.

Hell yeah brother. The amount of CDs with "mix" on it.......

    Oh I definitely know that...

    That's nuts.

Definitely helpful. Curious how well that holds up to 2024 lol

Hahaha if only they were interchangeable.

It’s not holding up great, but I don’t use it lol. We’re getting the doors replaced eventually and I’ll probably keep it and stick it in a drawer somewhere.

    Damn. Did a nice job.

There's definitely some crazy money into some of the carts in here. We took the charger into a place to have the charger tested on Saturday afternoon and the carts we walked into were $15-$20k starting...

Meanwhile we picked up this absolute UNIT for less than a 10th of that...

    Golf cart update:

    Houston, we have sulfated batteries.

Tried to go for a lap around here after dinner for the wife's birthday. Made it to the corner of our road before the main community's road and basically lost ALL power. Limped it home under it's own power but it couldn't make it halfway up the driveway.

I think the wife and I came to the reality that this thing was sitting with bad batteries for a while. The multimeter test on Saturday resulted in the 3 rear most batteries reading negative. I think they sat that way for a while and built up a lot of sulfate.

We hooked up the 6v charger that we picked up on Saturday to jump the batteries back to life and 5 out of 6 batteries read "SUL". The only one that didn't read "SUL" was the only battery that looks the newest/cleanest.

I thought that the charger reading 0 amps after being off the charger for a few hours today was a good sign. But, it must not have been able to detect the cart/batteries.

So, what we eventually wanted to do, will be done as soon as all 6 new batteries are ready for pickup. Hopefully tomorrow.

It seems the best experience was Saturday evening and then progressively each day it got worse and worse. I barely made it around the community in 25 minutes before it needed to be limped home and didn't make it up the driveway.

I think it's for the best in the long run to start enjoying it.
