Bound to happen when previous owners don't take care of things. Looking forward to having the new batteries.

Lots of places sold out of batteries apparently.

Was outside in the garage swapping the batteries on the golf cart. The box appeared battle worn. The mail lady apologized saying it wasn't her.

    IMG_0308.jpg

Seems good to go. And it works. It's going to be helpful for the golf cart over the 1400lb. Ugga dugga one.

    IMG_0309.jpg

    Thanks again, bro.

As mentioned, our new batteries were ready, picked up and swapped out. Went with 6 Duracell deep cycle batteries. And WOW!! Game changer. It is an entirely new golf cart.

Went farther than any other night, tonight. One loop around the community is about 30-35 minutes. We went around twice.

We're pretty certain that there may have been a front impact of the wheels and the wheels in bad shape moved to the rear so as to not violently shake the steering wheel. That or something in the suspension/wheel bearing is bent/severely worn. Our next plan is to remove all the wheels and put it up on jackstands and inspect those components. Might even consider taking the wheels into a shop and have them give them a once over; if they do that.

That will kind of give us an idea of how to proceed, next. A new steering box will be ordered soon and I would prefer to do the steering box and lift kit together while everything is apart once.

New seats, steering wheel, battery meter and rear seat armrests are being delivered tomorrow.

    It was a great evening.

A new steering box has been ordered and well as a hitch receiver for ezgos with the rear seats. Everything should be here by Friday but nothing will be installed, yet.
Saturday, I plan on putting it up on jackstands and removing all 4 tires and inspecting everything. We definitely noticed the rear wheels being worse under rotation than the front. I am guessing the rear bearings might need to be replaced.

I have been pricing out 2 paths to go for a lift kit and once it is on jackstands and the wheels removed and everything is assessed, that will dictate the route to go for that. I want to replace all 4 shocks and the rear springs for heavy duty springs. The one kit mentions that it includes "front and rear parts" but does not include information or photos for what rear parts are included.

Basically, I am trying to decide between an A-Arm kit and a drop bracket kit. Once I pull everything apart and get a better idea of the rear end and what's happening, a decision will be made.

Also a factor that affects the above decision is a street legal kit. It will done while everything is apart and accessible.

    Garage update:

Getting sick and tired of staring at the "mess" in the garage. Had the cabinets on my workbench and the plywood laid out for cutting and the plywood became a temporary workbench for working on the golf cart because the 72 work top is filled, too.

During my lunch break today, I was able to get the plywood ripped down into strips for the french cleating for the cabinets. I made sure to keep each piece together and labeled them. Having the foam board backing to support the wood all the way through the cut was a game changer for smaller pieces. The one annoying part with using a circular saw is having to switch the angle and blade depth back and forth for each cut. That and having a left hand saw. I am considering picking up a right handed circular saw and perhaps selling this left handed one.

I have to get the mitre saw out for cutting the cleats to length but I prepared for that tomorrow by moving the cabinets off the workbench. I will probably make those cuts tomorrow and likely start securing the cleats to the wall and cabinets.

I hope to have the cabinets hung this weekend and do the polyurethane and final fit and finish once everything is mocked up, first.

    Golf cart:

Threw everything out that was removed from the golf cart and just sitting on the floor; steering wheel, turn signal column mount and wiring cover, 2004 radio, misc wiring.

I have a couple of emails out to some vendors about some lift kit questions and what the kits all include. For example, "includes front and rear parts" is a bit vague. I hope to finalize and order everything next week for that.

I want to get it on jack stands this weekend, still and see what else needs to be ordered before tackling everything at once. Hoping that I can reuse the wheels for bigger tires.

    To be ordered:

    - lift kit; including all new shocks and heavy duty leaf springs for the rear
    - street legal kit
    - under seat storage tray
    - gas strut to prop the seat up
    - any miscellaneous items for the front and rear i.e. hubs or wheel bearings
    - tires (presuming wheels are fine)

Relieved to get the garage organized a bit and the french cleating started.

Felt like there was a lot of typing in here today:

    IMG_0357.jpg

Hard part is done. Thanks to help from the wife.

    - TV fits in between
    - reclaimed some workbench space
    - going to look into under cabinet lighting

Stoked for this to be moving along, finally.

    Not terrible, considering:

    IMG_0370.jpg

Cut down the 24" top wall cleat flush with the cabinet so that the coming shelf across the middle will fit right. Then, I got the laser back out to drill pilot holes so that the cabinets can be mounted through the cleats to a stud to be able to hold some good weight. Probably better than relying on the inch and a half screws holding the cleat to the cabinets. The 36 has 4 and the 24 has 2.

    IMG_0371.jpg

Ready for polyurethane and fit and finish.

Gonna take the golf cart for a spin around the neighborhood tonight.

    Tonight's progress:

    IMG_0373.jpg

Quick drive around the neighborhood in the golf cart due to lingering thunderstorms in the area. The wife wanted to help make more progress on the back wall.

Tv was free and left by the previous owners. Chromecast from don't know what year streaming YouTube. Works for a garage. Stoked.

But you ain't got no legs, Lieutenant Dan.

    IMG_0402.jpg

Inspection completed. Wheels seem straight. Tires need replacing; which we planned on doing with the lift kit anyways. The tires are mounted weird on the wheels. Best way I can describe it is somewhat egg shaped like the tires sat flat for a while.

The front spindle bushings seem bad but I was able to shim them a little bit for the time being and it feels better. I tightened up the front driver's side axle nut, too. I also threw in a few cotter pins up front as some were missing....

It seems the wife wants wheels AND tires instead of just tires because these wheels are "scratched and gross". Further discussion and research of agreeable wheels and tires is needed.

Definitely going to swap out all shocks (the ones on it seem blown) and I will probably get new tie rods and front hub bearings/bushings as well.

Going to order everything in the beginning-middle of next week.

Egg makes sense, I have had the same with bikes before. I wonder if you let the air out then mount them and inflate off the ground it might help..can't tell on yours but my BMX experience has led me to that method.

It wouldn't surprise me if the guy that owned it before, attempted to mount these tires himself and fucked it up. It definitely seems like the cart sat on flat tires for a good bit and ended up "out of round".

Looking forward to having this thing running smooth and getting the new steering box in and taking the slop out of the steering.

Very likely, both the fuckup and the sitting on flats. I hang most of my bikes for that reason as they don't all get much use
