Probably. The one I tried was just one I had laying around and sometimes use it flying a flag in the driveway.

I also need to modify the rod holders for holding baitcasters. Apparently, only spinning rods exist.

    We have headlights and taillights!!

    IMG_0586.jpg IMG_0584.jpg

It was so nice getting rid of the old, crusty harness and this thing that looks like it sat at the bottom of the gulf. Threw all the old shit out. Wasn't going to bother with the hackery.

    IMG_0583.jpg

Finished up the rod holders, too. Featuring new taillights:

    IMG_0589.jpg IMG_0588.jpg IMG_0587.jpg

Excited to get the lift kit and wheels and tires on.

Ordered up some stuff to dress up the dash, too. New key plate, new front end logo and a plate for where the 2004 style radio was for a battery meter, USB charging port and 2 auxiliary switches. Going to move the little LED bar switch there instead of between your legs. Oh and this kit didn't come with a brake pedal pad(?) Weird. I think the genius before me had tried to make his own brake pedal mechanism, maybe. Not too sure. Had to order one of those, but honestly, with how the rest of the cart's wiring was hacked together, I'm fine with it.

Is this gas or electric? If gas, did you remove the governor?

Im having flashbacks to my first job at a golf course. My coworker and I would mess around so much. Who let 15 year old kids drive golf carts?!

    Golf cart updates:

    - still no word on the shipping date of the lift kit. Hoping it ships in a week or less though. Getting excited.

    - received the rear coilovers; quality control kind of sucks with these golf cart accessories. The coilover extenders that came in the kit have one new and one used and rusted inside:

    IMG_0628.jpg IMG_0629.jpg

Lathered anti-seize all inside of it and it'll work. The hex nuts took some muscling to get them onto the threaded end of the extender because they were shot on the rusted extender. I'll need them for the spacer lift in the back so I can't not use them. Waiting to hear back from the seller on replacements. Otherwise, I'll order new ones I guess.

Got some stickers to go with the current "theme":

    IMG_0626.jpg

    IMG_0627.jpg

    En route:

    - new front end logo
    - radio plate with 2 aux switches, dual USB charging ports and a battery meter.
    - key switch plate with an EZGO txt logo decal.
    - brake pedal pad
    - floor mat
    - tube clamp mounts for LED light bar on the coming front bumper
    - Flanged AC power inlet plug

I'm pretty sure I'm going to convert the cart to an onboard charger to always have the ability to charger anywhere, anytime with an extension. This is the beginning of that mod.

Everything will be coming Friday or Saturday. I'm on call for work so everything that's ready to be installed will be done this weekend.

Sneak peek of the lift kit:

    Today's projects and accomplishments:

    - finished up the brake pedal pad install; the instructions for the street legal kit were ass. This box was never mentioned and it is stamped "48V" but our cart is 36V so I didn't pay it any attention. Hooked it up and boom. Working brake lights. Must've wired it wrong at first (again, instructions are 1000% useless for this box/relay whatever) so I popped the 15amp fuse. Other than that, easy and everything is working as intended.

    IMG_0655.jpg

    IMG_0660.jpg

Silly crackhead, house wiring is not good..

    IMG_0654.jpg

Safety sticker under the switch and key panels removed:

    IMG_0659.jpg

Next up, I did some weight reduction; mostly because of safety. Flap disk and some spray paint and it's good enough for now.

    IMG_0656.jpg

    IMG_0657.jpg

Eventually, this foot rest will be replaced. This is just to make it last a little longer, for now.

Lastly, I made the shelf between the cabinets:

    IMG_0658.jpg

I wouldn't mind a little finish trim piece to complete the look.

    On it's way:
    - new battery cables for the golf cart

    In production, still:
    - long travel suspension lift kit for the golf cart

Totally never rigged up a LED dune whip with ROMEX as a "temp" install...for 5 years :anonymous:

    Golf cart lift kit update:

The vendor received word that the lift kit is still in production. The manufacturer was waiting on parts that were delivered yesterday or today, but they're saying it could be another 2-3 weeks before the entire kit is ready to ship. Plus, shipping may take a few weeks in addition to that.

So, basically, it might ship in the first weeks of September, then it may not arrive until the end of September. Or maybe, October. Or Christmas. Or summer of 2025. And it took 3 business days, and 4 phone calls to the vendor to find out basically useless information.

I swear, it's like how things were in Q3 of 2020 up until Q3 of 2021 again. It's ridiculous.

But I don't really have a choice. A nice lift kit is few and far between, apparently, and people end up going a cheap route and then drop more money buying a better quality kit. Sounds familiar........

    So basically, I'm irritated.

I ordered the on-board charger for the golf cart. Hoping that ships in the next day or two. The agent I spoke with of a different vendor assured me the charger is in stock and ready to ship.

Got the 110 male plug ready to go:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0825X3M7X

I'll just need to make a Home Depot run for some 1" aluminum tube stock and flat stock.

For being such a popular hobby and everything, the aftermarket parts area is severely lacking.

Received the safety decal this afternoon:

    IMG_0685.jpg

Swapped out the old battery cables for the new ones received yesterday. The cables that came with this thing look like they were in the Gulf of Mexico. This is AFTER I did a little cleaning up when we installed the next batteries:

    IMG_0683.jpg

    Done:

    IMG_0684.jpg

Going to do some more cleaning up of the wiring; shortening of some harnesses, better routing, and replacing some spade connectors when I install the onboard charger. The area near the bottom of the photo aka passenger side "cubby" needs a good vacuuming.

Spent the weekend working on quite a few smaller projects that aren't worth dedicating part of the day to on their own.

Did some landscaping on the sides of the house and in the back. Just cleaning thing up, trimming some bushes and hibiscus trees.

Next, was fixing some smaller screen panels on the bird cage. Winds from Debbie caused a few blowouts so we made the necessary repairs.

Next up was repairing the seat on the Margaritaville chair. More repairs will be needed, however, at least you can sit on the chair without the decaying wood blowing out.

    IMG_0741.jpg

    IMG_0743.jpg

Next, we received word that they are going to be adding the driveways to the inspections. They're going to add on driveways being dirty in addition to the weeds. So, we spent a good bit of time power washing the driveway. Ended up doing 2 passes. Came out pretty well:

    IMG_0755.jpg

Finally, celebrated this little guy's 12th birthday:

    IMG_0752.jpg

    Golf cart update:

    - cleaned up the open horn hole the best I can.

    IMG_0728.jpg

    - should be receiving the on-board charger this week. Ordered some more goodies to assist with that install, too.

    - looking to order a steel steering column. The aluminum one is cracked and weakening.

    - still waiting for the lift kit.

    Good weekend.

    :spending:

Committed to a new steering column for the golf cart; splurged on all the replacement bushings and gaskets, too.

Received my on-board charger kit and a 3d printed piece for the bulkhead for the 110.

    IMG_0764.jpg

Was really hoping the color would match the cart since black wasn't available for purchase. Now, I'll have to paint the piece black:

    IMG_0767.jpg

    IMG_0768.jpg

Almost considering using this as a template to make my own out of aluminum..

Ran to Home Depot tonight for the rest of the supplies for mounting the on-board charger into the golf cart. Tried to see what sheet aluminum they had but nothing was really to my liking.

I'll paint this thing black and send it.

Also grabbed some poplar to finish the face of the shelf between the two cabinets.

Will do everything this weekend. Storming tonight but too hot in the garage plus the bugs are out.

I've had good luck with Amazon sheet aluminum. Decently priced, and good quality.

I made this for $18 in materials, whereas a name brand would be $100+ (3 years ago). Its still holding up today, and people ask me where I bought it. That's really the best compliment in DIY parts

I was thinking I might try picking up some when the store didn't have anything. I'm just worried about prolonged usage with the 3D printed piece. Some people reported the heat warping the piece.

The horn is really loud lol. It's location moved to the steering column, now. That spot in the floor is a really good foot rest.
