Only reason i sold my 01 tundra, it was getting up in age/mileage, plus the owner of local repair garage offered me $5k to buy it for a customer of theirs. I still have mixed emotions that i sold it. Toyota doesn't build a tundra that was roughly the same size but wider and has a bed thats over 4' wide between the wheel wells. Imo, what i've experienced so far with the tacoma is way better fuel mileage, and really 0 else.

My neighbor had a gen 1 with 350k miles on it. He traded his in for a 3rd gen and loves it. Especially since he was able to get a MT sport access cab.

I had a 97 and it died of frame rot. I have an 05 with the 4 liter v6. Still running and a great truck. 1st model year of gen 3 I think. Bought a 2018 for my wife. It has been in the shop all day and the dealership still has not found the issue. The lane departure, pre collision alert, cruise control, tire air pressure, outside temperature, all four power windows, and the rear sliding window, all stopped working at the same time. The dealership called and said the technician is requesting another r hours to troubleshoot it in addition to the two he has already spent. Keep it simple. They can sell it but they can’t fix it. I have the extended warranty bumper to bumper and are trying to crawfish out of that.
