Truck will throw an ENGINE and a TRACTION CONTOL error up on the dash and she slows down and loses some power. She won’t turn off, just losing power. Checked the gas cap. Removed the positive and negative to the truck for 10 minutes. Fixed. But it came right back. Waited 20 minutes and it fixed it for now. Just picked up an error reader, but waiting for the error to come up again.

If y’all had anything like this happen before or you are a mechanic and have an idea, please toss your hat in the ring and let me know what you think. Appreciate y’all.

Need an OBDII diagnostic tool to read what the computer is saying. The 2012 model has a recall out on the SAIS which triggers those warning lights

I'd bet my bottom dollar it's your secondary air control valve. I have a 2012 as well and the same thing happened. Luckily there is a recall for this in some 2012 models. Look your vin up on their website and it will tell you. I had mine replaced under warranty about 3 months ago.

Thank you fellas for your response. Always nice to hear some experience or opinions. And amazing calls!!!!!

We put the code reader on and it said it was a secondary air injection stuck open.

At the shop now. It’s my sons truck and he is in Florida at college. We (parents) are in SoCal, so he just drove it to get fixed.

Will let you y’all know any further information.

Found the recall. Thank you both for your wisdom. It will be at the Toyota dealer on Friday to be repaired. So stoked. Thank you again!!!

I can only imagine the headache this could have caused if not covered under recall! Still a hassle none the less. I'm glad everything worked out for you.
