Inspired by the work of @mesojdm to create a Cargo/Brake light for Gen 2's and Gen 3 Access Cabs, I purchased this clear lens from Klearz (Quebec, Canada) and some red and white led panels. I'll post more pics as I progress on the modification.

Here's a mock up with 1 brake and 2 cargo lights, I've got room for more so I ordered 1 more brake and 2 more cargo panels. Stay tuned.

I haven't gone that far yet but I assume when I remove the chrome piece I'll need some kind of support structure to attach the led panels to like what you 3D printed. Correct?

I have not seen the internals, but if it's like the brake light I used there are 3 peices; outer lens, rear plastic housing and a chrome section sandwiched in the middle. And yes I removed that and Made a panel to hold the lights.

So do you have to wire a switch to turn them on at night when you want to see in the bed?

I'm modifying the factory brake light so I'll remove the chrome piece and make a mounting structure out of ABS for the led panels. Thanks for the input!
Update: the OEM base has the bulb holders molded in so you will have to do some cutting to fit the LED panels in at an angle, if you don't care about aiming the cargo lights down into the bed then no cutting is necessary.

You could, but I'm just going to tap into the dome light so the cargo lights will come on with the door or dome switch. Credit @mesojdm for that idea.

I don't have 2nd gen, but it might be a negative trigger for some light. Which means you will need to run both power and ground from the LED cargo lamps to the dome light and tap connections

The other led panels showed up today. Got them mounted and wired. I'll try and finish up this weekend. Pic looks a little funny because I angled the outboard cargo panels.

I finished up the installation today. Wish I had gone with the tinted lens but for now it will do. I removed the dome light and the brake light and pulled a power and ground wire to power the cargo lights from the dome light and I wired the brake led panels to the existing brake light connector. Pretty easy modification to do.
