Oh yeah I can feel the 'Vibration TSB' if go looking for a problem...
if I stomp on it and accel HARD between 15-25 mph yup there is a slight vibration,
but that is only if I am driving like a tool... If I drive normally, zero vibration, zero issues.

I'd rather have the shifter (auto) on the column instead of between the seats.
    Light colored interior sucks.
Armrests on the door panels break easily
    Terrible gas mileage
Did anyone mention frame rust yet??

I agree with the chirpy fan blower and the rattles in the dash. But my dealer fixed both issues under warranty. The blower has been replaced twice. The only other thing I would put on the dislike list is not having factory tie downs in the front of the bed. I see that they come from the factory on the 2013s.

I'm surprised this thread has gone to six pages already.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
A lot of things people complain about here (no heated mirrors/seats, climate control, etc) are things that I actually like in the Tacoma.

I like that the Tacoma is somewhat simple, therefore less shit to break, keeping it reliable and troublefree.

Dislikes for me are the chriping blower, and steering TSB (that did not fix my slight looseness in the steering when going over rough road/speed bumps).

I definitely agree with you, OZ, on that point.

I just think one of the Taco's strengths is that it is still somewhat basic and not loaded with computers controlling computers.

well, it is reliable but it has more computers controlling computers
    than ever
...your statement is not exactly correct. this thing is loaded with
ecu's supplying ecu's with info for a third ecu to use.

what rocket science toyota brings to the table, are the wiring harnesses and connectors
they spec for connecting all this stuff is about the most reliable setup anywhere, just
don't drown it in salt water

    - weak tailgate
    - failing resistor in overhead console
    - almost same mileage as fullsize

    - no heated mirrors

Don't get me wrong, I really like this truck and plan to keep it for 10+ years, but while a good truck, it for sure isn't perfect...

    hold on a sec

    I previously posted: no dislikes

    I lied. I have these:
    -----------------------------------------
-cupholder too big, other cupholder too small, other cupholder out of reach
-new car smell goes away when I open door
-steering wheel has too many positions to adjust, I didn't need this when I was
in my 20's I don't need it now

-what was toyota thinking when they designed the:
    --stereo
    --windows switches
--doors, I mean come ON toyota, the doors for craps sake
--tires, lets not forget how toyota want to kill us all
--bed. not much to say other than How can you like the bed ? failz
--glass is too much like actual glass, should be virtually like real glass, not actual glass
--inside mirror. it dims, I dim. wtf ?
--headlights, OK they are actually cool but I don't have to like them.
--engine noise. you start it up and it makes noise. another toyota abomination. Hello !!!!
--charcoal post filter ? is toyota in bed with the EPA ?
--it beeps when I lock it, way too loud.
--dome light doesn't come on when I want it to, I have to actually touch a switch. this is 2013 !!! fix it toyota
--springs. weak springs. I mean yeah I am never going to haul 2000 lbs, but when I do, someday in the impossible future, believe me Toyota corporate is gonna get a strongly worded letter
--backup cam. another first world problem I would like to rectify by shoving my own head up my ass
--paint. paint. paint. I rest my case on this one
--tires. once again mighty corporation tries to screw the average Joe by doing this to us. may as well f**k my entire family toyota, since you f*ked me on this Taco
--wind noise. I drive 80mph... I want Bentley quiet so I can hear myself scratch my sack
--it won't post unreasonable and insane drivel on TacomaWorld for me, I have to do it myself. Yet another missed opportinuty for Toyota. You just wait mang....I might have to tell you in bold letters...Amorak. I am saying it as hard as I can.

Have I covered this enough :D

In case you have no sense of humor,
above is 100% BS, I love my flawless taco and would buy one again in a heartbeat

On very cold days you can hear my speedometer cable grinding away in the dash when going at low speeds. My 95 Taco made the same noise when I had it. My only other noisy item is the chirpping blower motor. It was replaced once by Toyota but I'm out of warranty now.

I thought Tacos have an electronic sending unit to the dash's speedo, not a mechanical cable to the gauge.

    ...no?

Crap, I was ready to sign for my 2013 DCSB SPORT tomorrow, then I found this forum and this thread........DOUBTS SETTING IN!!!!!!!!! Never knew these trucks were so bad!

Anyway had an 01 DC TRD and sold it for RIDGELINE in 06 and got rid of that in 09. Got away from trucks for a while but will still be throwing down tomorrow on a new '13 TACO 4x4.

All vehicles have quirks and issues.

You said it - "all vehicles have quirks and issues," that said I'm still buying a Tacoma again and won't consider any other. If any of these "issues" are troublesome for you this group more than likely has the solution. I wish there were more mid-size trucks in the class but most of the them decided it takes sales from the full size offering. Competition only makes products better. We'll see ya out there dboz!

Inspite of my gripes, I would still buy my Taco. I'm just disappointed that Toyota hasn't done a better job with some of the design elements that they have incorporated on some of their other models.

I don't care for the traction control or any system that takes control of your vehicle away from you. Mine kicked in on a hill in the snow with cars behind me and brought me to a stop when it left off the throttle for me. I was lucky that it didn't cause an accident(lawsuits waiting to happen). I don't like the fact that every time I start my truck I have to shut it off, why don't they have an on off switch where you can leave it off. Don't like abs either.

No heated mirrors. Also they could be tinted. I get blinded by cars behind me through the side mirrors.

    No heated seats.

Light gray seats. Mine is less than a year old rear seat ridden in twice and the seats look dirty. I will have to buy seat covers.

Cheap Dunlop tires. I will only get about 20k out of these if that.

Don't like the braking assist. It downshifts the truck when you apply the brakes. Usually does this and slows you down too much and then you have to hit the gas going downhill or shift into neutral. For 2 weeks I tried shifting into neutral when going downhill and braking and found this feature also wastes gas. Another feature you should be able to shut off.

All in all I do like my 2012 Tacoma. It is the best midsize truck out there. These are just the things I would change.

File IFR is correct. There is no cable for the speedometer. I do not know what you are hearing.
