On some of the many reviews I read during my research before buying a used Tacoma, it was mentioned heating and cooling was not as good as it should be. It's been in the 20s in the morning, and I've come to find out the heating in my Gen 2 Tacoma is very good. I did have the air conditioner compressor replaced over the summer, after that cooling was very good as well.

I've had mine for about 6 months now. Another mention was the low seating position. I find it just fine, and quite comfortable. Another negative was the ride quality, but most of the criticisms were from Consumer Reports, for what it's worth. IMO the ride quality is fine for a truck. I don't have the TRD suspension, not sure if that's better or a bit more rough. Either way, I value reviews but I've learned over the years they should only be considered, not a determining factor in a vehicle.

3 inch Icon lift with UCA’s
They make the sit lift brackets to lift seat
A 3rd gen suspension would be a better ride as both are interchangeable

My heater can roast my feet. The A/C...even brand new, felt like just barely enough in 100+ degree high humidity weather. I'd rather it be able to form icicles on my eyebrows.

2013 sport I did put the seat jackers in it made big difference .the heat works just fine for the cold north east the a/c could be better but tolerable all and all its a great truck just did a NY to Florida and back and it ran flawlessly 80+ mph the whole ride.

I guess time with tell with the A/C... got it fixed toward the end of August and from that point on it wasn't overly hot.

I guessed I'd like the seat even more if it was raised slightly. I'm in the northeast too so it's important for the heat to work well. Already snowed a bit a couple nights ago. The general consensus seems to be (as read on other posts) the A/C isn't the best. Nice the Tacoma seems fine at 80+ mph, although I haven't hit that speed.

I like snow, but just saw the news about the storm hitting the Buffalo area. That's over the top, pun intended. Most vehicles shown that were stuck spinning their front wheels. One pickup truck spinning it's rear wheels. In that area I'd assume there would be a high percentage of AWD or 4WD vehicles. I'm confident with the Tacoma I'll be able to at least get out of my driveway after an overnight snowstorm as long as the end of the driveway isn't too high with snow. I like that these Tacomas have considerable ground clearance.
