it will be equal in power to the HEMI engine, and handles much better on and offroad. my neighbor traded in his Dodge hemi for a Tacoma and enjoys the overall performance and reliability of the Toyota compared to a Dodge

That's funny. I have a dodge hemi at work and it's totally different than my tacoma.

I like driving my Tacoma more but the HEMI is a torquy beast. Great motor. I just don't like Dodge or Ram or whatever they're called these days.

I do it all the time on two lane hwy, trucks doing 45 on a 55mph, I just floor it and it instantly takes off like a rocket, just like the vid on post#19!
Now if I could just see the faces on those truckers, that would be priceless hehe!

    Hope that helps!
    Cheers!

I can believe it , the 2016 TRD I drove took off like the space shuttle when I just touched the accelerator, im certain it can smoke a Ford EcoBoost without breaking a sweat. hope that helps with your question OP

I'd hate to have an eco-boost past the warranty, plus I've got better ways to spend my time than waiting on warranty repairs, just saying hehe!

It does ok in the higher rpm range once it gets going. Don't know what 45-80 Would be time wise. I know the GTR ALPHA12 that I want will do 60-130 in 3.34 seconds :goingcrazy::benchpress:

I went by my Toyota dealer to pick up a oil filter today and decided to cruise by to look at the new 2017 Tacos and I could not locate 1 Truck but they had a lot of used Fords and Chevys in the used car area, I asked where the tacos were and the saleman said they are all sold or traded out for those Domestic trucks in the used car lot and nobody wants to buy them! The Chevy had a pool of Transmission fluid under it! True

I have noticed that the 3.5L V6 tends to hesitate for split second when commanded to accelerate heavily. I can't figure out whether it's a "normal characteristic" of our Atkinson cycle engine or a "normal characteristic" of the electronic throttle (read: computer is trying to figure out whether you're about to accidentally drive through the plate glass window of a Florida grocery store). Long story short, if you go to pass in a tight passing zone, the hesitation might take you by surprise. Oh, and I have a MT ... so it's not the transmission. I still love the truck despite this normal characteristic.

Yeah or when you're gunning it to make a turn out in front of oncoming traffic during rush hour when you have very little opportunity to "hit that gap" so to speak....

I put a foot on the brake and do a little brake stand to get the RPMs up.

I had to do it a lot in my last car...
