    Not an expert here- but has anyone found an LED light like the one shown below that runs on batteries? For those who hate to wire things, splice things and need an occasional light.

    I know it's not exactly what you're looking for but Grote does make a battery operated led light strip kit for truck beds, called XTL through Grote. Where I work we are a Grote dealer and our sales rep for the area has them in his truck and they seem like a quality product especially the battery case, looks sturdy and pretty weatherproof.
