I wouldn't trust information that the next full generation will be 2013. I work at a dealer and the lead sales manager or gm did not have any information on the 2012 until 2-3 months before it came out. I could not see this as a smart decision for toyota, more so on the parts end of things.. but more unreasonable things have happened in this industry.

My $ is on a Gen 3 taco in 2015.

The die injection mold for the inner grill surround alone is $50K minimum.

I've learned quite a bit about this topic...

Trust me, the 2013 will look just like the 2012.

^ You should see what the stamping die for the hood costs. I'm guessing $250K

Trucks in general lead longer design cycle times, because durability testing is more extensive.

I think its been confirmed that the tacoma will get a full redesign in 2014. Owner probably said 2013 because they will be released in 2013 around this time. The 2014 is suppose to be a game changer. My guess is a 4 cylinder turbo motor or a hybrid motor with a lot of low end torque. But that's just my guess.

Follows the same pattern as the 4runner. The 4th gens got a facelift for 2 years and then the 5th gens were released.

I think you should get the '12 that they offered you...that sounds like a great deal. The interior and entune would be pretty sweet.

    +1
IMO, the only thing they should do to the Tacoma is put in the bigger V6 engine.

I got a 2012 because I think new engines and transmissions are coming in 2013 and I do not want the first year problems. My next Tacoma will be the second year after redesign if it does not increase is size very much which I think will happen.Look at the size of the new 4Runner.That is what you can expect from the next Tacoma redesign.

My experience shows that dealers know less about our vehicles than we do. But that is an amazing deal, take it!

x2... there's at least 2-3 more years with this 2012 look. They change cars/trucks to create more of an interest in said model. Taco's practically sell themselves...

I'd take the deal if for no other reason to just have a yr newer vehicle to trade in for the 2013 if it does materialize and you like it. Also will be more trade-in value if waiting until 2014 or 2015 too. Plus the fresh design and interior stuff. Gittit!

I would take the deal. It's a pretty sweet one. They're pretty much going to sell your Taco for about the same price as you will pay for the 2012.

I heard teh next gen is gonna have laser beams coming out of teh head lights.

I would take the deal now. 800 future dollars for a one year newer truck is a great deal. An upgrade like that would usually cost thousands.

I would agree. I just got a 2012, TRD V-6, 6-speed, spruce mica, and love it. I think the front end and changes to the dash and steering wheel are fine, and the new spruce mica is nicer than the Timberland Mica.

    My $.02

Is that an ejector seat? I had an obnoxious ugly girl weasel her way into my car once. That would have been sooo handy at the time.
