The San Antonio plant went offline for a little while to repair storm damage. Not sure if that is significant enough but it might be. As far as Seatbelt Mike goes, I don't hate on him like some do here. He has a boss that tells hims him what to do like everyone else.

I mean are you guys really seeing Toyota dealerships that have no Tacomas in stock, though? Our local dealership always has about 10+ sitting on the yard waiting to be sold. Where are the dealerships that can't keep up with demand?

All my local dealers have 7-12 new Tacomas at all times. Usually loaded to the gills models, but that is besides the point. If you are in Los Angeles, and you want a NON 6 MT truck today, and you want to pay MSRP, there are tons of dealers with trucks, thats for sure.

Same dealers have 25-30 Tundras in stock....

Last July we saw it jump a dollar within 8 hours here in CA.
    Never really recovered after that.

Dealers around me (Wyoming/Colorado) tend to not have many Tacomas on the lot and they tend to go fast. I drive by my local dealer almost everyday. It is rare a particular Tacoma sits for more than a week.

"Average days on lot" is the metric that matters, in terms of supply vs. demand. Unfortunately, those data are harder to come by than sales data.

I know my local dealer was selling every Taco within a few days of getting it until the past month or so. Since then they've built up a lot more inventory and the same trucks have been sitting there for a while.

My closest dealer seems to get different models in waves. A month ago he had a whole row of 4Runners, last week he had 3 and a whole row of RAV4s
Maybe 1 or 2 Tacomas at most, and maybe 3 Tundras. I chatted with the sales manager about the '17 TRD Pro Tacoma, and he told me their entire allotment of 3 is sold. They have deposits on all of them, with a waiting list.
    Go figure.

I imagine there are a few stragglers from a few years ago that still haven't sold. It's rare for a car to be on the lot that long but not unheard of. You can still find 2015 Tacomas that are brand new right now. Just not very common.

Anyone know the ratio of MT to autos (V6 only) of the gen 2 compared to gen 3? Seems like they represent an even smaller percentage of the gen 3.

I was just at my local dealer for service and there was exactly one Tacoma on the lot and it was already sold. My salesman friend says they cannot keep them in stock and can't get enough to meet demand.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
...^^^... This is so true ... especially on the big trucks ... your wisdom is as infinite as the grains of sand in all of the oceans. :D

PS ... If a truck is needed ... I do believe that the Gen. 3 is an excellent choice though (small bugs and all).

Tacomas fly off the lots at the dozen Toyota dealers here ... they sell super fast.

Just because it is showing these trucks in inventory, does not necessarily mean they are physically sitting at the dealership collecting dust and available. A vehicle can be transit from the factory or in the staging yards awaiting to be shipped or in our case, at the Port awaiting custom clearance etc and can all be counted as part of a dealers "inventory". Sold units are represented in that number as well until it's physically driven off the lot by the new owner and we file the RDR (Retail Delivery Report)

This is our situation as well up here in Vancouver BC.....we can't get enough. Customers are waiting an average of 8 weeks to take delivery. If you walked onto our lot right now, you would see 10 Tacoma's sitting there. They are all sold, awaiting PDI or for customers to take delivery. The demand seems to be increasing as people are starting to see the new Taco's out on the road.
