I'm more of a function over form guy. I don't care how ugly it looks as long as it can perform.

I was just messing with you. I always wanted an Xterra. Rented one in Florida once but decided I didn't want another SUV. Now the Xterra went the way of the Pathfinder...gone. And yes, I know they still use the Pathfinder name on that POS.

Is that the definition of trolling?

"Making a deliberate offensive or provocative statement online with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting a response from them".

Do you really think Toyota still puts out the same great and respectable quality as years prior?

Do you really think Toyota still have the same design conditions as years ago? These days people want and expect more in their vehicles than back in the day. The Toyota vehicles have gotten bigger, tighter mpgs and more electronics. Over all I would agree with you reliability has dropped but only by default of integrating more complicating designs to keep up with the modern age.

I am just comparing the definition of trolling to your own self-description.

The reasons you keep advertising day after day a very particular competitor truck over Toyota Tacoma is a different story.

Also your arguments are flawed - you do not have that truck. Nor you have a Tacoma. You do not share own experience. Your opinion is based on the number of complaints on some forum.

While you do not take in consideration the fact that there are much more Tacomas on the road, than the competitor's truck. That alone introduces a huge error in your perception.

As I told you in another discussion - yes statistically Toyota is more reliable. And statistics is more accurate than anecdotal evidence. Thus in drug tests they use statistics, not anecdotal evidence. Think about it.

Do you own a 2016? Yeah there are more Tacomas on the road, but how can a 10 year old truck like the Frontier sell so much and eat into the Tacoma's market share? And where are these statistics if you stating that the Tacoma is more reliable? Some magazine that can be bought and paid off by companies? Toyota can't even get a 2nd gen frame made correctly.

The true area to get preceptions are the owners of the vehicles and how they truly feel about them. That is why forums exist.

I find it hilarious when I hear people complaining about reliability of vehicles today. If you owned and worked on cars from the 60's through 80's you would understand what I mean. I guess maybe it depends on your perception of "years prior".

It's a fair point to make that the average Joe who buys a Tacoma and is happy about it is probably much less-likely to post on Tacoma World compared to a person with issues. This person probably starts with Google when researching a problem and Tacoma World is probably one of the first hits it brings up.
I do think the majority of owners are happy however there is a significant amount who are not. Much more than the gen 2.

Here you go. Not "some magazine". But J.D. Powers. If you have evidence that any car manufacturer payed J.D.Powers money, then please present. Otherwise you have to accept that your Nissan is WAY below the average in reliability. And Toyota is way above. Those are cold facts. Enjoy.

Surprising to see Buick up there. Good for them.

However all my associates who have Porsches, have had quite a few issues. Our work parking lot is filled with 911, panamera, and Cayman. And i hear of lots of issues

WOW, dodge is worse the Land Rover? Jeezus

Didn't bother reading anything past the first couple of posts... So here we go... again.

Reasons Gen 2 2015 sales were higher was because you were able to get the Gen 2 for around invoice/less than invoice. Hard to find a dealer that will do a retail sale on a Gen 3 Tacoma for invoice or less. They all are USUALLY around MSRP or a tad less than MSRP. When the hype calms down sometime next year, dealers will be a little more aggressive on pricing and sales will go up.

Do you really believe GMC is on par with Toyota? Or that Chevy is better than Honda? That is just a manufactuer as a whole. That list looks questionable right off the bat. That is not divided by individual model. I bet the Japanese made 4Runners, Land Cruisers, Rav4's and Prius' make the bulk of the good reliability while the Tacoma is barely hanging on to their coat tails.

The report is done as a whole and not by model, you are correct. However, the whole Toyota line has one of the top reliability on the market. The problems reported range from a headlight bulb recall, to a transmission recall. It would be better if they listed the majority of the problems.

Lexus =/= Toyota. There is a reason both are on the top.

Highest resale value (besides the Wrangler) is the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota 4Runner. Chevrolet/GMC with their Colorado/Canyon are rising to the top only because they have been out of the mid-sized truck market for over 10 years. Those 2 have pretty much saved their vehicle sales with the 'Merica buyers but they will never be over the Tacoma.

Just so you know - Tacoma is the leader in the segment of mid-size pickup trucks according J.D. Powers. To elaborate, that is the first model year beats the 10 YO model from Nissan!

Let me repeat it - your perception based on internet forums and anecdotal evidence is wrong.
