Stock head unit. Line input option on the DSP amp. I have the wiring outs on another thread. I will dig up later.

Anyone have issues with JBL “premium” head unit? 2017 with JBL.

The radio connects to my phones Bluetooth, but does not play audio. When i plug it in, I have to switch back and forth between usb and Bluetooth source once before it plays audio.

I have half a mind to get a new head unit, saving money on audio specs to spend more on features like car play and touch screen. This is because, from what I understand, the sound is fed by the JBL system amp, which I may later replace, along with speakers, for improved audio.

before that, however, I think I want to install sound deadening. Cabin noise is obnoxious with my K02’s (probably due for new tires).

typically bluetooth issues are first a phone issue.

    first try rebooting your phone.

second, you can try deleting and pairing the phone to the radio again.

Dang you're right. The one thing I haven't tried was unpairing and repairing.

I am already committed to option 3 but still am planning out the build. If I replace my stock HU with the Stinger Heigh10 do I still need a signal processor like the Rockford Fosgate DSR1? Or can I run RCA's straight to a 5-channel amp and throw the POS JBL in the trash?

FYI planning on either Rockford Fosgate punch series component speakers and subs or going big with all JL.

    Thanks!

If you replace the head unit AND amp, you do not need any interface with the jbl equipment. RCA’s straight from new head to new amp is all you need

I would still get the PAC amp harness so simplify your speaker wiring process and prevent having to cut up the factory wiring

    Great thank you so much!

I am going with the Stinger Heigh10, are you referring to the wiring harness that you buy with the Stinger or can you give me a link to this PAC harness? Also I have a 2022 and the Stinger kit only specifies up to 2021, will this work for my truck?

I do believe there were some differences between 21-22 so I would call PAC audio directly (they own stinger) and ask their tech support. They’re extremely helpful and should either know the answer, or be able to find the answer faster than most people

    *update

it looks like they have the custom kit listed as 2022 compatible, even though it’s labeled as 16-21

i would still highly recommend a signal processor, but it's not necessary for maintaining any functionality, only needed for expanding system control.

He was more specifically referring to an interface for the JBL amp like the AmpPro or DSR1, not necessarily a “signal processor” like a DSP

Project is complete. I may make a video of the setup but just wanted to give an update.

All Rockford Fosgate component speakers front and rear with 2 P1S2 10” subs behind the rear seats. All wired to a DSR1 and P1000X5 amp and stock head unit. Sounds amazing super happy with the results.

I am looking to sell the JBL speakers (6 + sub) without the head unit. If anyone is interested please reach out! Also have the plastic panel “luggage compartments” for behind the rear seats available (part#’s 64429-04080-C0 and 64429-04101-C0).

If there is a dedicated thread to buying and selling please let me know so I can post there!

Yeah they want to make sure people 1) are legit, and 2) aren’t just making an account for the purpose of selling stuff. A lot of scams happen that way

I am looking to do this as you described but am having trouble finding what I need. I’d like to do a mid-tier to hit end system myself.
It sounds like I should start with an amp, then find speakers. Will I also need a new head unit?

Goodies in box all installed yesterday, kept factory head unit. Doors deadened. Shop did a great job. Sounds unbelievable for OEM head unit. Sub woofer needs to be changed but the RF amp has made it move much more than the stock amp did before. Very nice upgrade..

Leveling kit 2" , big tires , diamond back bed cover.. pro grill and I removed the center piece from the cup holder...that's about it.
Anyone know how and where the speakers in the front door and dash are crossed over? There is no visible capacitors or anything but if you put a coaxial 6x9 in the door you don't hear it's tweeter .. and I'm trying to figure it out . Returned the 6×9s cause they were not cheap and put the jbl (factory) 6x9 back in and replaced the dash with a tweeter. Though it's much brighter now it's too bright for the loose mid.. feeling like I may have to do the make a 3.5" fit game but.. has anyone tried the 2 way pioneer 2.7" in the dash? I want to think that will bring back some of the mid and still have that bit about the way it is with tweeter change.. I just don't want to go back to a non soft dome but I do feel like it needs mid... I went from the eq being on full treble way low mid to almost full mid and way backed off on the treble.. I may give the pioneer a try they seem to be the only 2.7" 2 way I can find

JBL system does all crossovers in the amp. You'll only get mids/lows to the front doors, and you'll only get highs to the tweeters. And anything with a true tweeter will be very bright compared to the paper cone of the factory jbl tweeter/driver.
