    Gents,

I killed my starter during my last wheeling trip in SW-VA and am looking for some pointers/tips/tricks for the replacement process. I've read through all the gen1/2 threads on this and am curious if this will be roughly the same procedure. Thanks yall!!

Got the new starter in last night (thanks McGeorge for not nickle and dimin' us like every other dealer!) and eyed up the project during the ten minute break we got from the downpour. Looks like i should be able to use my tetris skills to work the old one out from the belly right by the driveshaft. I'll post here again with what i've learned after i tackle the replacement this weekend.

On a second note, i'm curious if anyone else has some advice on how not to kill your starter every time you drive through water. Saw there was what appeared to be a breather line coming off the starter and it got me wondering if anyone has extended it up to a higher spot in the engine bay.

I'll keep y'all posted on the process!

A starter breather line? Would like to see pics of that.

Edit: Apparently there is such an item.
