Any gen 3 Tacoma owners out there also get the new Highlander? Looking to get the wife a new 2017 limited and want opinions. Also looking at Ford Explorer.
Sadly getting rid of 4 year old grand Cherokee hemi for family expansion needs. Love my 2016 Tacoma Slort.

Sorry for the comment lol. I dont have first hand expierence, but when sitting in the highlander at the dealership, i was less than impressed. I would steer towards the 4 runner.

My buddy bought a 17 so I've had seat time with it. Some quality control problems like ours but the 8 speed is worlds above in drivability. Hood rattle is bad on his and his windshield has two cracks from separate rocks with a similarly thin piece of glass.

We prefer our 2016 4runner and how it drives over the 2016 Tacoma that's for sure

I've driven the Highlander several times but not the revised 2017 version. '17 bought more HP, 8 speed auto, standard safety sense across all trim levels and some other updates.

I say it's the no brainer SUV/SAV for your wifey & family man

Anxious to see what you think when you take them (exploder too) for a test drive.

I didn't take it that he's ditching his Taco..???

Agree and I guess obvious from my having owned a few T4Rs (& Tacos but no Highlander) I'd pick the T4R but if it's not on his menu & his wife is using it for family/DD duty, I can see a Highlander being a great choice. Especially given all the extra safety equipment not currently available on the T4R.

Correct. We are going to trade in a jeep for a 3row SUV/crossover and due to how I like my Tacoma I'm looking at toyota again for the Highlander

Wow. Can't even imagine running $70 of depreciating wheels............ But I'm Scottish. o_O

Can't speak to the newest Highlander, but I still love my '04. Unfortunately like all other models they seem to have bloated up too. The current RAV is about the size of my Highlander.

Had a friend with a later model, maybe '12 or '13? It was a very nice ride. I still think they are one of the better CUVs out there.

I had to update... Its a '16 not '15... Either way, we both like it. I like that I can use it to keep miles low on my Taco haha

My wife has a 16 Highlander and she loves it! Good for family trips. The t4r was just outdated on some of the convenance features my wife wanted.

My wife also has a 16 xle, we love it. We have taken several road trips with the kids. I took her to the dealer, had them pull up a 4runner limited and the highlander. She picked the highlander.

My wife has a '16 Limited with all the bells and whistles. So far she's been enjoying it. Definitely a nice ride compared to my Tacoma, haha!
