Hello all, I'm new to Tacoma World. The beginning of this summer I began a search for a new 2023 Tacoma. I had a specific build in mind and couldn't find what I wanted on any dealer lot. The beginning of June (2023) I worked with one dealer who found a truck what was allocated but not built. Working with the dealer and the factory I ordered a new Tacoma TRD Off Road Quad Cab with all the options I wanted; Advanced technology package, TRD premium Off Road package, Tonneau cover, Bed lights, Roof rack, Mud guards, Predator step tubes, Console safe, Wheel locks, and All-weather floor liners and Sill protectors. I immediately fell in love with the truck when it was delivered the middle of October to the dealer, and I saw it for the first time!!! I installed Catalytic Converter Shields I purchased from Cali Raised. These covers were made from stainless steel and were high quality. Plus, they were super easy to install!!

Here's where I need some help; I'm looking for a floor cover for when I have the back seats folded down. I have a 92lb Golden Retriever and I'm looking for some protection for the floor. I've looked on the internet and can't seem to find this type of cover other than hammock style covers which I'm not interested in. Any help would be appreciated!!

    Thanks!!! Wayne

I've went through a few different setups.

    I have a 80lb golden retriever.

    1. Rear Seat delete from goose gear or similar. Even with the rear cubbies in, you gain a ton of room. What I did was buy a 4" memory foam mattress from walmart, cut it down to the exact size of the top of the rear seat delete, and then had a local sewing person use an old sheet to make a pillow case for it. My dog LOVED it. Problem is I lost my rear seats and the noise increases quite a bit with the rear seats out. I put some sound deadening on the undersize of the rear seat delete but didn't help out a ton. Also, with the dog back there, everything was pretty solid. With the dog not back there, and on bumpy roads, the seat delete would rattle around.

    2. Typical hammock style dog car seat protectors things are just fine. The problem I ran into is my dog loved the rear seat delete (and she was used to it from day one) so once I put the hammock back in the truck, she lost a good foot of space. And because some of the hammock is unsupported in front of the rear seats, the few times I've had to slam on the brakes she almost falls.

    3. Hard bottomed hammock style is what I currently run. Gives the dog a bit more usable room.

    4. If you are absolutely opposed to a hammock style and don't want to spend money for a rear seat delete, I'd get a 2" memory foam topper from walmart, cut it size to fit your seats folded down, and get a cover made for it. 2" is plenty for a dog.

Well, I did some research and found out I could make my own protector for when my rear seats are folded down on my Tacoma.

1 sheet of 15/32" thick 4'X8' sheet of plywood $26.40 (Home Depot)
1 3'x5' carpet area rug $14.98 (Home Depot)
    1 staple gun & staples
I built my own in about 30 minutes once I got all the supplies together.

Pretty simple. I measured the inside of the cab and cut the plywood to 55 1/2" by 23 1/2".
Then I cut out he corners, folded the carpet stapled the carpet to the back of the plywood...Done!

    My Golden Retriever loves it!!
