I don't know how well if be able to controll the manual lever in an emergency if it was all the way down there? I also should have said earlier it has an accelerometer in it so it's supposed to be flat and parallel to travel.

Yes, a P3 needs to be level with the truck left-to-right but can be mounted at any angle front-to-rear.

I installed mine (P3) in the cubby so not much use to you. I thought about installing it below the cubby but knew I'd be banging my right knee against it getting into the truck and banging my left knee against it getting settled in the seat. I'm also 6' with long legs so I emphasize with you.

You may not have time to get one as many places don't have them in stock. But the Tekonsha Wireless Brake Controller solves the installation problem. Been using it for a couple of years now without issue. Good luck!

Just picked up our new trailer today. I still have some minor hitch adjustments but it tows fine. Our first trip will be a week on the Gulf coast at Goose Island.

    IMG_0808.jpg

[EDIT] Took the trailer to the local Flying J truck stop and had things weighed. The truck+trailer+me= 10,280 lbs. The truck+me=4,930. So, trailer with empty water tanks but full propane and most everything but clothes=5,350 lbs. I decided to purchase a tongue weight scale to measure that component and should have that by the end of next week. I estimate the trailer when loaded for a trip (food, about 1/3 tank of fresh water, clothes to be another 200 lbs or so - 5,500-5,600 pounds.

[EDIT 2] I measured the TW empty and the damn thing is 780 pounds. One of the grey water tanks is all the way aft so I plan to add some water to it before the trip to lighten the front. I'd rather it be closer to 600 pounds up front so the front wheels of the Tacoma don't come off the ground :).

Nope not at all! It handled that load pretty well. The 5 speed helps alot also!

If I ever would have bought the 4banger, it would have been a must with a MT. I wish I could have found my 15 in a MT :(

Thanks! Of course, it's 101F today so I'm waiting for the sun to go down before adjusting the hitch. Needs a bit more weight forward. I decided on an Andersen WD hitch. Pretty easy to install and it's much lighter than other WD hitches (around 50 lbs total). I also have Sumo Springs on the rear. I tow in 4S and the engine tachs around 2600-2700 at 60. That's fast enough for me with a 22' foot trailer.

The wife spent the afternoon lining the cabinets and such. Thank goodness the AC works.

Yo brother, that's a 27ft trailer, they measure from hitch to tail light! Nice rig. Been thinking seriously of a hi-lo 22ft weighing in at 3,850lb UVW, but if you can pull that lovely thing...I shouldn't have an issue.

I put that Tekansha right where I didn't want too but I couldn't come with anything better. It's easy to adjust the gain there and I can easily get ahold of the manual override if need be. I was thinking under the steering column but there is an airbag down there. It's close but I haven't banged my knee on it yet.

I also brought our camper home! It was about a 100 mile trip from the dealer to our home. I put the WDH and friction sway device on myself once I got home since the dealer wanted 700 bucks to do it. It towed well with no WDH but I did put about 20 psi in the airbags to at least keep it level on the way home. I was actually surprised how well that little 3.5 pulled in the hills. No problems maintaining 60-65 mph

    Jayco 195rb Baja
    About 3k dry weight
Dry tounge weight is about 290lbs
