Does it remember the settings if you turn the vehicle off and cut power? I'm pretty interested in this thing. It's about half the price as getting a wired one installed

You create "Profiles" and save them on your mobile phone / tablet. I don't recall how many different profiles you can configure, but several, at least. so nothing is saved on the controller itself.

    You basically do:
    1. Hitch up trailer, leave truck engine running
    2. Launch the Curt mobile app on your phone/tablet, and select the desired profile (you can configure different profiles for different trailers, or to have different braking settings for the same trailer if you want)
    3. Plug the controller into your truck's 7 pin socket
    4. Wait for the LED indicator to go solid bright green, indicating it is connected to your phone/tablet
    5. Connect the trailer's cable into the brake controller
    6. I personally press & hold the big orange "button" and wait to make sure the app indicates the trailer brakes have been applied in full, just to make sure everything does appear top be fully functioning

I’ve been reading up on Hensley hitches, especially the propride 3P. I’m contemplating getting one for my 2021 forest river 167rbkx. When fully loaded, I’m close to max GVWR on trailer and Tacoma (previously posted my GVWR on Tacoma is about 5,500 lbs and trailer is about 3,800 lbs with 13-14% tongue - all within GAWR, GCVWR, and GVWR), my tongue weight is ~420-450 lbs then +100 lbs for the WDH that gets redistributed. So that makes it roughly 520-550 lbs on the hitch, if I’m not mistaken. With the propride, I’d add another 100 lbs for max of about 650 lbs, I believe, meaning my limited has a max hitch of 640 lbs. I called propride and they didn’t seem to think that’s an issue, specifically asking about the weight on the hitch. The propride is about 200 lbs. anyone have any experience with a similar case on the propride and the Tacoma?

I might make a new thread for this, but first I wanted to see if any of you fellow Gen3 Tacoma tow'ers have run into this...

I have a Redarc as my brake controller and it looks great, almost factory, and has worked well when it works, but it was driving me a bit crazy because every 2-3 times I hooked up and towed my TT camper, the controller would seem to freak out and the adjustment knob light would just flash at me and the whole brake controller wouldn't work. I would have to dig under my dash and unplug/replug the main brake controller unit/brains to reset it to get it working (and then it would have to go through the whole learning/calibration process too which takes a little while). During one of my recent trips with it, before putting it away for winter storage, I noticed something when I hooked it up and plugged in the 7-pin trailer light/brake connector - the taillights on the truck were flickering very lightly, which was strange and I'd never noticed before probably because I'm usually only hooking up in broad daylight. I looked at my controller knob and of course it was flashing again (I think it flashes blue and green when this happens, if I remember correctly) like happened frequently and required me to replug it in and reset it to get it working properly. Lo and behold, as soon as I reset it, the flickering stopped in the taillights and everything was kosher, other than having to go through the calibration cycle yet again. I kept an eye on it after that and noticed when it was working the taillights were good, but when the brake controller flips out again they start flickering again. Here's the catch - I have @MESO total taillights stage 1 LEDs (and also @MESO ultimate turn signals) and I'm wondering if the non-factory taillights are causing the issue.

Anyone use a Redarc with non-factory taillights such as @MESO or others? Do you run into weird issues with your Redarc stopping working correctly when you are using it with the 7-pin connector with electric trailer brakes such as on a TT or other big trailer? I assume since there really hasn't been any complaints about the Redarc here that those of you using it with factory lights aren't having any issues like above with yours?

I really like my MESO taillights and turn signals, but debating if I'm going to need to switch back to factory lights since not having trailer brakes working reliably can be a safety issue, especially with towing a TT.

Have you tried reaching out to Redarc over the issue? Most on here use the P3 from Tekonsha, and nowhere on these forums related to towing, have I heard/seen a similar problem or any issues with Redarc usage in general. The only time I've heard of flickering/flashing, is when using a controller with surge brakes (i think these are mainly for smaller boat type trailers) on a trailer. and utilizing the hazards, if i recall. Not sure if your trailer has these types of brakes.

Not yet just doing some preliminary investigations, seeing if anyone else has had that issue, maybe reach out to @MESO if he doesn't see this already, etc. My travel trailer/camper is in winter storage so I won't be using it until spring and don't have access to anything else right now to test with anyway.

Interestingly I just saw another Redarc, even pulled from a Tacoma specifically, pop up on craigslist around here, so I might get it if I can for fairly cheap so I can do some testing with another unit as well when I get a chance to.

I would love to hear your take on that camper and how it works out for you. I am very interested in the 12 ROG there isn't too many real world reviews of it yet.

My current tow. . Trailer is about 2,845lbs dry, but trailer is too small for us now.

We are looking at a 23’ Imagine xls that weighs 5,325lbs dry. I have a WDH, Tekonsha P3, and looking into Firestone ride rite for the rear.

Our plan is to camp local (northern California) with the heavier trailer until the truck market comes back to reality and I get into a 2500 diesel. Any input? Am I crazy? We are super light campers

Shoot me a PM and I’ll answer any questions I can. I am currently in the middle of installing Renology batteries, solar and inverter. Trying to take our maiden voyage next weekend to test everything out.

im using the Redarc toe pro elite and hav Meso stage 1 taillights. Just towed from AZ to CA with no brake issues whatsoever. Have you tested the Redarc with a 21w light bulb to make sure it working properly (per their website)?

what tires are you running? I found this to be substantial during my last tow and believe it’s related to the soft sidewall of the Goodyear wrangler Kevlar ATs. I’m trying to decide if should go to 17’s for a shorter stiffer sidewall and more options or go with a heavier load 16” tire

Pump your tires up to 45psi, this will remove the side wall flex and make towing considerably better. You should always Increase the psi as you increase the load.
