    Hello Tacomers,

My history with Tacoma has been pretty tragic. I was supposed to buy a 2016 Tacoma (dream truck) back in 2016 before I got laid off. I had the money, but I did not have any extra incomes, so it would not have been financially responsible on my part. Instead, I stuck with my 02 manual Honda CRV with the worse clutch and shifter (bought it salvaged) for the next 7 years. I have not had a vehicle for the last 2 years.

With the 2024 coming out this year, I am torn between Gen 3 and Gen 4. On one hand, 2021-2023 Tacoma are the best of its generation---on the other hand, it leaves a soar taste in my mouth. Why buy the current model when I could have had it 9 years ago?

I should buy the new model instead, right? But---turbo engine and rev-matching worry me. I want a reliable vehicle that will last 20 to 30 years, and I want a real "manual". I'm pretty much torn and have no idea what the right decision is.

    Thanks for reading.
