I wanted to get some experiences and thoughts on installing an aftermarket Pro Grille on a Gen 3 Taco with TSS. In my last Taco (2017), there was no TSS so the grille swap was pretty easy and carefree. I now have a 2021 with TSS and I have a Pro Grille with TSS garnish from Tacoma Lifestyle in my garage ready to install but I’m concerned over some of the installs I’ve read about where the sensor stops working and some engineering is required. I really like the look of the Pro Grille over the standard grille the truck has now but I don’t want to render the TSS useless or put myself in a position where I have to try to rig it to work. What have your experiences been installing a Pro Grille on a Gen 3 with TSS? Did anyone have issues, or not? What fixes did you employ if you had an issue? Thanks all in advance.

I’ve done it twice, my newest also has the 360 cams. Its extremely straightforward and Ive had zero issues 8 mos later. I first watched a few videos on YouTube so I knew what to expect. Follow the instructions, take your time, and have plenty of room and good light to work in.
From what Ive read most people have had TSS issues from not transferring all the hardware over to the new grille. I also have a 2/1 lift which made no difference.

    Oh look, another mod....

I upgraded my grill from the stock oval Toyota logo to the "Heritage" grille and had zero issues with installing it. I was able to re-connect the TSS sensor and move the front facing cam. The hardest part was getting the old grille out WITHOUT breaking the clips.

I did place a washer under the TSS sensor though. The grille has been on my truck for over a year now, and I have had no issues at all (with the TSS or the front facing camera).

Borracho loco - I had issues with the cruise control on my last one so I went back to stock. Can you tell me where you got your set up?

Do you have any pics of your grille? I was thinking of ordering one from them. Any fading issues?

I bought/installed the EmpyreOffRoad Grill & Garnish. Items shipped separately.

(I purchased smoked amber Raptor Lights from a member here who didn't install them-2 ways to light up; I chose only when headlights are on)

I did not add the washer in the TSS top bolt because the grill is angled slightly.

No issues with TSS/DRCC/LDA since August of this year.

Here's a helpful video of the differences between OEM & aftermarket grill.

And of course a couple of photos:
