I have a Tacoma and my wife has a 4Runner so we have 4 sets of wheels and a couple extra spares. They live in a shed.

I’m seriously considering putting on 285/70 17 KO2s when my truck comes in. Will let you know how that pans out.

^Just go to 35x10.5-17. Kenda and Mickey Thompson offer that size. Shouldn't even need to regear as the Pro and TH come with 33s stock, and the jump from 33 to 35 is proportionally less severe than from 31 to 33 on 2nd/3rd gens.

First time I've used this forum (or any internet forum) so tell me if I'm doing it wrong.

My questions: Does Toyota honour the warranty if you size up? Do I need to make other mechanical adjustments? Bigger brakes? Gearing ratios?

I have a 4th Gen Taco with 265/65 R18. Looking for LT Range E studded winter tires which appear to be a rare breed in this tire size (lots of studded winter P rated tires, though). I am thinking about sizing up to LT 265/70 R18 which has options for LT studded winters.

Knowns: Hybrid is runnning the 265/70 R18 size. Approxiametly 3.3 % variance in circumferance between the 65 and 70. 1" difference in diameter. There is plenty of room in the tire well to accommodate for the larger tire.

Depends on the dealer as far as warranty..my dealer has honored my warranty on all my trucks. And they all had lifts and big tires. I’ve had to replace many wheel bearings and front axles with no problems. You hear about a lot of dealers who don’t want help anybody with any of their issues. I have a good one so if they don’t always have the best OTD price I’m fine with that

Just ordered a size up from Discount Tire online. They have a prompt that makes you verify your vehicle. They won't install tires sizes that aren't authorized by the vehicle manufacturer. I suggest you can go through that process if you are worried.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
Do you need Range E tires? Have you ridden with LR E on a midsize? After running 2 sets of all terrain Es' and now I rotate between Mud terrains in D and all terrains in C, I'll never put up with the harshness of Es' again.

Thanks for you advice and concern. I owned a 2006 Taco for 18 years (my wife totaled it this winter - she's OK and no one else was involved) and ran E load range (LR?) tires on both my winter and off season tires for at least 8 of those years (I live in Canada where my winter tires are on for 7 months of the year hence my other set is my off-season). I agree that Es are a harsh ride. However, I'll use them again for a few reasons 1) I sometimes haul a 1992 slide-in Bigfoot Camper; 2) I want a tire with high puncture resistance (I once punctured an E range tire); 3) I want a tire that starts with at least 15/32" depth of lugs, preferably 17-18/32" for greater traction and longer service life.

I emailed the parts department at my local Taco dealership and they said that it wouldn't invalidate the warranty if I sized up to 265/70R 18. I've got it in writing, so that's good enough for me.

Thanks for all the comments. This forum it super helpful.
