    Hi all!
Long time lurker. Back in the day I had a CrewCab 2006 TRD offroad 6mt, I curently have a 2016 T4r limited that I've lightly built to my needs and have really grown to love it, now entertaining idea of trading sedan and adding a 6MT 4WD Taco to my life. I am curious to hear from those who have had the gen 2 6mt 4WD and the current Tacoma. How would one in the know stack the two against each other ? I am mostly concerned with shift quality and owners over all.02 cents. I'm also on the fence with the 3.5. Gojng for a stick, i won't suffer the slings and arrows of the auto trans lethargy (most expertly laid out on this very fine forum) However i am interested in any performance increasing mods that don't void the warranty - (i really really want to see and LS3 conversions for these - and everything else for that matter but i digress). Anyways Y'all seem like a really nice group of folks and I look forward to many interesting and respectful conversations/ differences of opinions. Im also interested in the running changes that would color a person's choice to go for a 2018 vs a 2016 etc. Thanks!

I own Gen 1 and Gen 3. Never owned a Gen 2 - too ugly for me.

My 6MT PRO 2017 has 78,000 trouble free miles. All stock, no power adder to the 3.5L in my car, and I am happy with it. I drive my sports cars when I need more power. The quality isn't on the same level as the Japan made T4R. Go in with your eyes open.
