this thread is for gen2 taco owners who have surpassed 250k miles

I am interested in hearing from tacoma world members what type of oil they use
& how often the oil is changed (you may also include filter info)
you should also be the original & 1st owner of your tacoma

I dont want to hear from anyone under 250k miles, ONLY OVER 250K!

    I will start it off....
    2013 auto with 316k+ miles, mobil1 5w-30 synth, every 5k, stock toyota $5 filter

congrats to all who have surpassed the 1/4 million mile marker

Regular oil and filter every 5000mi or so.

    Truth.

I started off going to the stealership every 5k miles but that got too expensive. So now I go to my local Brakes Plus (a friend is the manager) and let them do the oil changes/tire rotations/and other misc service stuff. 20190519_133159_Burst01.jpg

it cost me $30 for the oil & $5 for the filter
& its a pleasure to perform

I did a blackstone lab test recently & it came back A+ (first time I had the oil tested in 310k miles, btw, prob do it again at 400k)oil.jpg

your test results would be better if you changed your oil every 5k IMHO
do a side by side comparison on our reports & your will see that oil changes ever 5k are the way to go

maybe we should contact blackstone & have them compare our test results to advise which is the best route to take when considering oil change intervals for a gen2 taco?

Id love to see your test results when you reach 300k

again, when you reach 250k miles your info will provide relevant feedback for a 1/4 million mile taco
you are almost to the moon, but not quite there yet...keep going...we all want to see the result of NOT changing your oil as toyota spec's

So it's not a tacoma but it is a 05 Tundra with the same V6 and trans as the tacoma. Currently at 358,800 miles. It gets the oil changed every 3,000 miles with a synthetic oil. I usually use napa oil because my company has an account at napa and we get it for a good price. I just put some castrol in it and the motor does not like this oil. On cold starts the truck shakes for 3-5 seconds until the oil is circulating good, so I plan on changing this stuff out sooner rather than later.

269k. Oil changed every 5k with whatever synthetic or semi-synthetic is on sale. Dealer has never seen truck since it left the lot. No engine issues except did have to replace head gasket about 10k ago for a slow leak.
