I was talking with a mechanic friend of mine about how crazy it is the Generation 3's can go 10,000 with the synthetic oil vs regular oil. He said that 10,000 with synthetic seemed find but the thing to take into account was did Toyota compensate the additional 5,000 miles with a bigger oil filter. He said if the oil filter size is the same as on the 2nd Generation with regular oil I might want to think about changing the filter every 5,000 and then the oil every 10,000. Does anyone who might have had a second generation know if the oil filter is any different?
