Look at the availability of anything for the Chevrolet Colorado. For fun a few weeks ago I tried to make a Z71 build estimate. While there is good support for the suspension, including UCA's and 2.5" midtravel aftermarket shocks, I couldn't find dick all for sliders, armor, or bumpers.

Hopefully the popularity of the Tacoma, and it's offroad following, will elicit a quicker response from fabricators for armor parts.

well I haven't found it. I dunno I look at it often enough to stay informed LOL....like when you are way back in the woods taking a nap in your truck while you are out deer hunting....and you look and see -10F and decide to extend that nap LOL

and now I need to keep a battery powered garage door opener in the vehicle. I mean come on toyota....this gets used at least twice a day ...and in the cold batteries hold up real well LOL...

one thing I will not miss from my 05 Tundra is the tape deck LOL...

meaning they already fixed the ugly 4Runner...'16 Tacoma they probably have something already in the works. It will most likely sell like hot cakes since majority of the people hate the new fascia

shoot...why do you need to check the temp every 20 minutes? when I worked construction...you delt with it...get hot, take off your jacket...get cold put it back on. sitting inside a climate controlled truck... does it really matter what the outside temp is? maybe if you're an inspector and have nothing else better to do than check the temp every 20 minutes... LOL! ;) :D

Hasn't been out long enough...like when the 2005 Tacos came out...not much in aftermarket...since we now live the day and age of the $40'000.00 mid size trucks...I am going to bet the diesel collie is going to become the next hawt platform to build on.

Toyota said they wouldn't do a diesel, because of the roughly $3000 upcharge...which they said fuck you guys..and did the $3000 upcharge anyway and no diesel .LOL...those gawd damn sons of bitches...

Hell, I am very long time Toyota fan boi....and think they lost me on this latest re-do.

When it hops above zero here and the ground is frozen the frost can come out of the pavement which forms black ice. Knowing the temperature effects how I drive. If it's -10 c I don't worry about it, but if the temperature suddenly hops to 5 c I slow down because there will be black ice. That simple.

I wonder if that view has to do on where you live. Most of the guys here will stick with Toyota. No one trusts GM offroad. If anything I could see a few more 4Runners sold instead of Toyota's here, but I doubt many Colorado's will be sold of offroad use.

Maybe if the support gets better for the Colorado but right now it's not there and I see zero on the trails, even on the forest roads where people in the 2015's go to try out the rear locker :D.

Still have to drive safe even with studs. Have you drove up here in winter much lol.

TBH you should do some reading on the newer winter tires. Some of the newest designs rival studded tires but without the shitty wear and noise issues.

You should drive safely either way. Dad rant over.

Seriously though, its either hot, nice or cold. Period. I drive similarly in hot and nice weather. When it is cold, I don't care what the temp is, black ice is an elusive bastard. It can pop up anywhere.

Darn right. Last November, I'm driving to work, and the roads are dry with very good traction, but there's a front blowing through that I didn't pay much attention to. Halfway to work the switchboard for the radio station I was listening to gets lit up like a Christmas tree with people to the northwest going into ditches. I knew that was coming my way so I slowed down to 35 mph. Two minutes later, after I finally skidded a 180 to a stop I'm facing backwards perched off some guy's driveway halfway down into his cornfield, but slowing down probably saved me and my truck.

I hate that ice and the temp readout wouldn't have meant a thing that day.

My legs were shaking so badly I had to wait ten minutes before I could modulate the clutch to reverse up that hill without stalling. I don't ever want to ride that ride again.

I dont need a temp display. But is a nice feature to have. I have been curious on several occasions what the outside temp is.
Above 100 or below 50 i cant tell.

yes, but the front end is different between 2010-2013 and the 2014+.

sounds like our toy Chihuahua, shivers if it gets below 60-70F :)

It's just nice to have a warning to know the frost will be coming out of the pavement with our Chinook winds causing havoc all the time. I'm not here to be a jerk about it. Your the guys whining that this truck doesn't have a fullsized motor, which IMHO is a lot sillier than asking for a feature every other vehicle on the market has. I'm just stating that I do find the temperature gauge helpful. It's not a make it or break it option, but it's something I keep an eye on around here.

I was only being dick-ish. No real intent.

Would a scan gauge or ultra gauge suffice?

Only pulls intake air temp, which is close I guess. Like I said I'm not trying to say I have to have a temperature gauge or I won't buy the truck, but it's a useful feature around here.

Actually I was having a real think a little while ago about what I would do if my truck was run over by a dump truck and I had $45K (KBB + my current mods) to go dump into another truck. The 2016 wouldn't work for me because I don't think we will see enough aftermarket options in the way of offroad equipment for it for at least a year. So it'd be between a used 2011 Tacoma AC TRD OR, a new 2015 TRD OR, or a GMC Canyon all terrian Diesel. Honestly, after just what we know today, I'd go with the 2011 and mod the piss out of it with all the leftover cash. So none of the newer trucks win for a guy like me. Maybe in 5-6 years when I want to buy again they will have proven themselves, but right now is a terrible time to buy a mid size truck. The Colorado and Tacoma are too new to have any proven pedigree or plethora of bolt on options, and the 2015 Tacoma lost a bunch of little options that I like on my 2013. I'd buy used if anything right now....
