Oh...just razzing ya...usually means I like ya. I am ol' construction dude...we are bunch of sarcastic fucks. ;)

Hey now, I want a teeny 2.5 deezul, that gets some of the torques and all of the emm pee gees...though a rip snorting V8 would be fun...if it is gonna get shitty gas mileage might as well have fun.

I wonder what that black spot in the mirror is for then. Maybe back up sensor warnings or something.

Hey, what snow tires do you recommend? I am fine with my BFG AT's on the Taco...but looking for something for the SUV...I actually would like not to do studs if possible.

Does anyone have experience with Nitto Exo? They are supposedly a good all terrain / winter tire. I posted the question under tire discuss but no replies.

Here is my reasoning, Toyota doesn't offer a manual trans on the lowend SR anymore...to get the manual...it is looking like I have to spend about $35K to get that manny, which pisses me off, since I consider the OR edition's suspension crap...I like to do my own. So that puts me in the roughly the diesel Colorado price range, if I am going to spend that much, sure I'll have to give up the manual trans, but the trade off is incredible torque and pretty awesome fuel economy, that will yank around a camper like it isn't even there.

I am just now seeing them on the streets in greater numbers....too new to see them in the back country just yet, give it time. Since I ride dirt bikes, mountain bikes, canoes, and what not......I don't really do anything too difficult with the truck anymore...but I do like decent suspension to soak up the wash boards.

For sure, I don't trust the GM like a do the Toyota...however it will be under warranty...if it gets too fussy, ditch it or use the lemon laws if it comes to it. I am tired of waiting for Toyota to build what I want...the Colorado is damn close though.

    Nokian Rotiiva AT Plus

If you are going to use the SUV on trails or

    Nokian WRG3 SUV

If the SUV stays of pavement and gravel

Those are both "all weather" tires that you won't have to change in the summer but are still winter snowflake rated. I've run the WR series on cars before and a couple of guys at work run the Rotiiva AT Plus year round. They are amazing tires if you aren't concerned about the softer rubber compound. Wear wise they do pretty well actually unless you do a ton of gravel or spin them a lot on rocky surfaces. The next tires on my wifes truck will be the Nokian Rotiiva AT Plus.

Can't beat these. Literally this company wrote the book on all weather tires:
    http://www.nokiantires.com/all-weather-tires/nokian-rotiiva-at-plus/

If you are going on the trail or gravel a lot the Toyo C/T is also winter snowflake rated but has a bit tougher sidewalls. I'm running the C/T on my truck right now and I might go back to them again. I got about 50K out of them.

How heavy is your trailer? I have a funny feeling even with the Diesel you won't want to tow more than 5000 lbs with that truck. Then again, I'd say exactly the same thing about the Tacoma. Hopefully, as you said, the Colorado diesel will pull some impressive mpg even at load which should force Toyota to go to at least a turbo gas engine at some point. You talk to guys with H3/H3T's and they have to replace half of the front end at 60K miles. That's not a good sign. Hopefully this new Colorado is better built.

I did some building online today just for fun and I could have a Colorado base with automatic transmission, access cab, V6, locking rear, vinyl floor, and interior convenience package for $35K CAD. I could probably get the dealer to do $34K OTD. That's a pretty attractive price considering I expect a TRD Offroad Tacoma to go for at least $5K more here. If GM proves the Diesel can keep it's shit together I would consider one eventually. Warranty unfortunately will mean dick all when something breaks when I'm 20 km into a difficult trail.

Personally I don't see a point with manuals anymore. Automatics get better MPG now and with the gear selector they are still useful offroad.

moto trailer is light...loaded 2000# max...it is the Four Wheel Camper Eagle slide-in I want to get has me looking at the Colorado. "Supposedly" the Collie will have a payload close to 2000#..do not know how true that is. If I try it with the Taco, with just the two of us, full tank of 20 gallons water...you are at the Taco's payload...and I haven't put any other gear in it, nor hooked up my trailer.

So if I want a FWC..I really should step to a fullsize. 1/2 or 3/4 Ton, when you compare a fullsize to the Collie....then the Colorado's fuel consumption really shines. Those trucks in the 2000# payload range have fuel consumption anywhere from 10-20 mpg range loaded. Think gasser F250 with the 6.2, Tundra 5.7...or the F150 with the 5.0 is what I am looking at.
