I like the DC, but bed to body gap is not very well done IMO. The AC looks so much better in that regard. Of course you could just get the DC LB.

Trust me, when performance mods come out for this one it'll get the full treatment again ;)

Will do the lt kit up front and sua in the rear then just performance mods down the road, no crazy cage or anything, that's for the full SCORE compliant race truck in the future :D

The price change between last year and this year would mean a 15% inflation rate.
    Newsflash, it's not just inflation.

You're comparing the last year of the previous model to the first year of the new model. That's obviously where most of the increase is going to occur. What's the rate of inflation from the new price of the first year of the previous generation compared to the 2016s?

Here's a Car and Driver review with a new 2005 DCLB 4x4 clocking in at a grand total of $29,389. Even if you wanted to compare that to the $37,820 of the new DC 4x4 limited, it's an annual inflation rate of a whopping 2.32%.

    http://m.caranddriver.com/reviews/2005-toyota-tacoma-double-cab-4x4-v-6-long-bed-long-term-road-test

PRICES GO UP. This is absolutely no different than my grandfather complaining about paying $8 for a burger because he used to be able to buy four for a $1. It's also akin to saying they don't make good music anymore and the cast of Saturday Night Live will never be as good as it was when you were 21 years old.

It's called getting old. And guess what? It beats the hell out of the alternative. But, recognize it. Don't complain about inflation. It's inevitable. Be aware of it. If you aren't willing to pay $34,000 for a new midsized truck, just realize that new midsized trucks won't be cheaper 10 years from now.

You my friend are my hero. I think that he is just jealous, a ford guy trolling the tacoma forums. Yeah that's someone who I would take advice from.

(don't know how to do the cool smileys as of yet)

image.jpg Who uses fork mounts? Or even a tailgate pad? Time wasters and downtube destroyers those are.

This is the only reason I was considering a LB. Also, I've used fork mounts for a long time. With a strap over the top to prevent sway, I've never had a problem with downtubes being destroyed.

Edit: besides, if you're actually riding your bike, you put a lot more stress on fork/downtubes railing down a mountain than you do carrying in back of a truck.

Take a look at your paint and run your finger around the welds/start of the downtube at the headtube junction. All the jostling wears away the paint and fatigues the metal/carbon. It's not about torquing the connection it's about the micro impacts over a period of time.

If you ever shop the used bike market I always check this area. Gives you a good idea how much the bike has been used as most owners don't take care to transport correctly. Sad thing is, most bikes get their damage from transport, not the actual rides.

Same question here... After seeing that post I went to look at inventory in the local dealers. It is finally showing 2016 Tacomas... but guess what? No 4x4... nothing, nada!! Every model listed is 4x2

I'll keep that in mind. Like I said, I always use an extra strap over the top to keep the bikes from swaying back and forth. Maybe that is the mistake a lot of people make, just relying on the fork mounts for support.

The rack in the back of my truck cost $12 in wood. No pedal/handlebar fights. No need to strap down either. They stay put on the roughest of fire roads even with the tailgate down. Also, dérailleurs are safe as the rear wheel connections are angled just right. I'll do a write up here after I make a new one for my 16

A write up on your setup would be great. I'm always open for better ways to do things. However, I did go with a SB. But I typically only transport 2 bikes at most, so I can probably get things to work by angling appropriately. Send me a message with your write up so I don't miss it!
