"Although a less sophisticated four-wheel-drive system is offered for the other trim packages (all models use the same transfer case with the 2.57:1 low range), the TRD Off Road uses a Multi-Terrain Select system that allows the driver to select rocks, mud, snow or sand to allow the 4x4 computer to change gears, transmission shift points, traction control parameters, and even throttle and brake inputs. The Off Road trim also includes a bigger, heavier-duty rear axle — an 8.75-inch ring gear instead of the normal 8-inch axle."

This is from one of the reviews of the truck

Well, it is pretty darn tacky...what ever it is. No wonder every reincarnation of the Toyota pickup gets worse and worse...

...OK...not too sure just where to post this....so apologies if I hit it wrong....but:

...My question has to do with the SS exhaust tip...is this mainly just for looks?...

....reason I ask is it slips over the original tip...which is just steel....so wont moisture get trapped between the two and rust out the original tip faster than without it?....o_O...

...Thanks, OuTkAsT!.....I live in SoCal presently.....so rain and moisture are rare around here....but we can only hope El-Nino brings us some desperately needed rain this winter to help end the really bad drought....

    ..and, of course...once that happens....it could rust?...o_O............Cheers!......

...Nah...I am inland...almost to the edge of the Mojave.....But don't get too complacent out there in AZ.....o_O

...Once the BIG-One hits CA, and it breaks off...Phoenix will become ocean-front property...and you will have to worry about rust!........LOL!.....Cheers!.........

Its going to rust anyway. Whether that SS tip is on there or not. UNLESS of course, the whole tube is made out of SS.

Here in upstate NY, it doesn't even matter if it's stainless steel. All rust warranties are voided up here because of the weather and the crap they put down on the roads. If it isn't the tube rusting out, it's the welds.

I love it!!! When my truck comes I'll be buying one. I have 2 questions. How are the lights attached behind the grill and could you do a light bar and the words Toyota. Depending on if it looks ok or not. Thanks!

There are tabs behind the cutouts that accept the bolts on the cubes. The same goes for the lightbar version.

Speaking of the lightbar version, here it is in the flesh before powder coat. As far as letters above the bar? That's certainly possible.

Sweet! I like it! Could you lay some letters over it when you are done painting I'd like to get a feel of what it would look like. I really like the look so far thanks for building something to replace that ugly stock grill. I like the mesh pattern as is but do you also do others? Just out of curiosity.

I'll ask DB to lay the letters over the top for reference when this one comes out of the oven.

Yes, this is the only pattern available. If you didn't know already; the pattern is cut out of a single piece of plate on a waterjet.
