Yes. Apparently a few people thought the new Tacoma should come with an espresso machine and a sex slave. When they heard it was still just a truck, they couldn't handle it.

Ugh. I'm giving my son my '96 Tacoma in May. And my plan was to buy a 2015 Tacoma. Then I read all about the 2016 and figure I should wait, at least see compare 2015 vs. 2016. I was hoping August-ish for the 2016.

??? In the past, when did the "next year" Tacoma's show up? October ???

I am getting anxious for some more information. I am ready to buy a new truck and the ones I can actually touch are looking better every day.

For some, the opposite was true. They seem to go bananas thinking it came with leather, sun roof, remote cell phone charging and a Lexus motor. They can't handle that it might be more car like and even handle and ride better. It shows you can't please everyone.

I've read June, August, Oct and Nov in various posts in TW. Does someone have an authoritative answer when you can actually drive a Gen-3 off the lot. Even if that answer is "No one officially knows yet".

I've called a few dealers in the area, even they don't have a definitive answer.

There's no sex slave? I may have to reconsider my purchase plans.

Anyone know if the lug pattern will be the same? I'm wondering if the newish wheels I purchased will fit the 2016.

MPG will be on par with the Colorado. Maybe 26 mpg on 4x4 models IF we're lucky. Lot's of people on these threads gunning for high 20's, which ain't gonna happen.
People are still naively under the impression that car makers are gonna put their best engine tech in the trucks that are the least expensive. Want fuel efficiency? You gotta pay up, unfortunately.
I have gotten 26 mpg out of my 02 3.4 liter, coming from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Cheyenne Wyoming. All downhill mostly and most of it in 65 mph rural highways.

    1) 26 mpg for a 4x4 means about 27 or 28 with other packages right? Sounds like high 20s to me.

    2) The Tacoma is not a cheap truck. What do you mean pay up? What more efficient truck is there than a 26 mpg midsize? The 29 mpg eco diesel ram? If that's what you mean then yes, you have to pay about 5 grand then 30% more than gas for your diesel.

I hope the 4 cyl is comparable to the Colorado's. 200 horses ain't too bad for a 4 banger that doesn't have to tow or anything. Plus 27 mpg like the Colorado gets would be tits

    Good thoughts.
Mileage is so dependent upon 4 wd and air resistance that high twenties in a 4 wd is tough to achieve on the highway. The addition of that little spoiler isn't a miracle worker.

In a lower 2wd...sure, pencil me in for high twenties for sure......like 26-27 mpg. If I read the literature on the new motor correctly, the new bells and whistles on the motor will help during light loads. Throw a lot of weight in the back, tow a trailer or drive through hilly country or spend time in 4 wd and the mileage I suspect will look a lot like the 4.0. Only the improved transmission will help mileage while working.
