I do hope that they offer the Manual transmission on the Double Cab Long Box this time. I know a few people who bought the automatic because they wanted the longer box. Would like the best of both worlds.

I saw the tan one today. I'm still on the fence about how I feel.

I thought the unpainted fender flares were a charcoal color... Like the Ford FX4's
I like that how they are a different color on them and it looks like a flat powder coat almost. They should do that with the Tacoma instead of just the plastic

Got to see it in person at the Denver auto show. Makes the wait that much harder. That tan color would not be in my top 10 for sure. They had a "rep" there that gave the same speech... fall delivery, no numbers BUT the most powerful and economic engine in the Taco to date. She did throw me off when she said it was the same engine used in other Toyota vehicles. When I questioned the release statement of an entire new engine, she looked confused and said she was pretty sure her info was correct. I guess that doesn't help at all.

Maybe an "entire new engine" referred only to being new to the Tacoma, but not necessarily new to Toyota . . .

What about the other on the blue model that we were first seeing?
Plus I'm sure that we'll see plenty of good after market options available
and hell even painting or having that painted to match the dark gray or
    black would be an improvement.

The grill was never a strong point for me. That being said, I have accepted it. I would have done it differently, but overall I think it will be a good truck.

I'm with you, the grill is the least of my concerns and an
    ez mod either way.

I think the off-road will look good after a grill swap from the limited. I have a 2012 dcsb and will be trading in for a khaki off-road.

I like what the offroad has to offer but those silly looking random ending tiny gray finder flares definately are a poor and odd looking design. I can only imagine what that will look like on a double cab. Maybe it will grow on me, but yes the limited grill is much better though still fugly than that chrome overkill. Blacked out has potential.

I was heartbroken in the fall of 2011 when I learned the 2012 would be just a minor refresh. So I've been waiting patiently since then, and my 2009 Taco is showing its age, so I'm definitely trading for the 1st black or grey TRD Off Road I see on the lot. Might even pre order one. And my local dealer offers a life time power train warranty. So I'm not really worried about any "new model year" bugs. I mean - new engine, new tranny, more power, better mpgs, new design, and a go pro mount. What reasons are there to not want to trade for a 2016?

Did anyone ever reach a consensus on whether or not the rear door panels are carry over or not on the double cab? Lot's of people debating whether or not the uptick on the door/window was different from the gen 2. I do not see a difference.

Same here, don't like chrome at all. My TRD Sport is all color matched
from bumper to bumper, I think the only chrome is the Tacoma badges
on the side, I was just going to remove them but will leave them now
as I'm trading it in. If I can't get exactly what I want on the 2016 and
have to deal with some chrome - painting will come swiftly!

I know no other color except black :D it's all I've ever had. I've got
calls in to several dealers waiting for them to land.

    Currently...

Didn't someone say that it's a 2nd Gen frame with 3rd Gen panels? Does that mean we can panel swap the rear? I love the rear, front is great except the grille.

Panels don't look different to me. The stamping does near the bottom but nothing else.

    Have you seen the redesign?

Obviously more indentations and angled designs.
