No order yet. Just "on the list". I think we're all awaiting release of specs, pricing, packages, etc. I hear from the dealer that's "soon". Yeah, Toyota's taking a while, but no matter how long that takes the delivery window is still projected around early-to-mid-September-to-early-to-mid-October-ish.

Would be soooooooo nice to just be able to walk across the border to TJ and buy one of these:

It's the dual VVT version from everything else that uses the 1GR-FE other than the Tacoma. That makes sense, why risk putting the 7GR into a truck that will be pushed hard.

Been waiting for the past two years to part with my truck. Love it, but needs have changed. Been trying to preorder, but no luck. I need a long bed. It's going to be a painful summer.

I'm excited to see the numbers of the new truck. I knew the cab would be bigger!

Do you mean bigger in a sense of hip and shoulder room? The dimensions are still the same as previous gen. Im guessing they made door panels smaller, seats shaped different, center console, etc. to gain some room in the cabin, but wouldnt expect any drastic changes in head or legroom. I think Swears talks about this in his PR at the Overland Expo.

That's what I was referring to. And yes by bigger cab I mean more interior room, not a bigger exterior. I like the size.

It was just a tad cramped. As soon as the 2016 was announced I was rooting for slimmer interior components to make more passenger comfort.

I'm 5'11 and a 150lbs and the cabin is perfect for me. My 6'1 roommate hates it on the other hand. Definitely not a truck for tall or wide guys, its still roomier than my buddies colorado, which seems like more of a compact truck if you ask me.

Really? I thought I heard the Colorado was slightly larger. I'm a half inch over 5'9 and 185 lbs. The driver seat is fine but I know if I had to carry 4 passengers they wouldn't be comfy.

Speaking of Colorado size vs Tacoma size, I'm impressed that the Tacoma has the best Cd of any midsize. That with it being 300 lbs lighter and the "very fuel efficient" v6 should lock in the 26mpg highway mark.

Nope the new ones, Im not stating its fact, I think the colorado has 3 or 4 more inches of legroom and an inch or so of headroom just how it felt when he brought it by after buying it, felt cramped, especially the back seat which looked more upright than my taco.

This may be the death of me but even if another truck outclassed the taco (I'm looking at you, F150) I would buy Tacomas because I love them and I love this forum.

Technically the F-150 does outclass the Tacoma. The Ranger, on the otherhand...

But Tacoma > F150 in sheer coolness, except for the Raptor though.

Not really. The Tacoma still has resale, reliability, aftermarket, and offroad. It can haul anything I'll ever use. If I towed horse trailers or a mobile home I would need a diesel.

Agreed on coolness  the raptor is cool from the factory, it looks awesome. But I will NEVER spend that much money for that truck. You could put half of that into a Tacoma and make it better.

The F150 only really shines to me in cabin space and cooled seats.

Fair point  I was merely pointing out that the two are in different classes naturally, discounting those other more important criteria you mentioned.

Pissed the 4.0 is offered in the Hilux and not new Tacoma.

At least the tacoma looks way better than it. The hilux is ugly!

Originally I was disappointed with both the '16 Tacoma and '16 Hilux exteriors (both interiors look like improvements). However over time the Hilux is growing on me, while the '16 Tacoma is not.

With that said I agree with you if it were legal I would cross the boarder immediately and pick up a DC diesel 4x4 with a 6 speed manual.

Though the hilux may look like a car or highlander with a bed the design is at least cohesive and flows rather than the tacoma that looks so awkward in so many places design wise and more randomly thrown together. But we all have the right to our own opinions ;)
