    Haha...

    True the depreciation blows.
I just hate not knowing how someone treated the car and such.

    I've seen a few.
But you're right the majority are prerunners and not 4x4s

Why I drove an hour away to get mine, but I wanted the truck you see. There are over a dozen dealers closer. The guy who bought my stock wheels/tires said he wanted a 4x4 and let the sales guy talk him into a prerunner. He was bummed. Wow dont ever let a sales guy talk you into a different one than you want!

Same I've seen a ton of sr5s and a decent amount of sports.

It's a scam. I'm sure Toyota does it to drive up prices.

I don't either, but...I also look at the owner as well. I like to buy completely bone stock vehicles from older people, that have all the service records on hand. Generally speaking, if they also include a ton of photos in their ad...usually means they have a bit of pride in their vehicle too.

The Isuzu Trooper I picked up a couple years ago...the original owner was extremely OCD about her vehicle...even had a fuel log. Damn thing was like new. I paid next to nothing for it too. I can easy get another 200,000 miles of it...use it has my commuter.

Granted it does take a awhile to find the right one, I am pretty patient tho'.

Saw about 15 TRDOR/4WD/V6/entune plus/tow pkg/automatic/DCSB/floormats for $34,605 sticker. All black, silver or grey. I dig that Silver Sky color, much better than the Silver Mica.

Had one 6-spd $33,626 with same equipment and options. Didn't ask if they would budge off of those prices.

not bitching about the Gen 3

but when I saw on the news

Hamp, a 55-year-old American who was Toyota's newly appointed head of public relations, was arrested on June 18 on suspicion of importing oxycodone, a narcotic pain killer, into Japan. The drug is tightly controlled in the country

    I thought

maybe this was smuggled in for the design team that...........designed the grill and from bumper on the Gen 3 Tacoma

I know they must need some type relief

Lease!? ahhhh...that is worse than taking out a loan! ;)

Yeah, I have some friends who flaunt it, I have others that look homeless and are worth millions.

My wife grew up dirt poor too...and because of happenings that were out of her control, she has been homeless twice in life. She is by far more of a miser than me...gawd damn she knows how to stretch a dollar. And from here loosing everything twice, she goes above and beyond squirreling things away...me, I used to buy food as I need it...she is preparing for the apocalypse, she hates not having back stock. She never wants to go hungry ever again.

She has taught me a couple things...like material objects, once you loose everything you realize that things are just that..."things".

If someone gets employee pricing, but doesn't work at a dealership = Toyota Corporate employee

Ah, this was just my failure to extrapolate that. I didn't know there were more ways than one. Thank you!

I never leased, seems like a losing proposition from the get go. I know people that brag about their "great lease deal" but I can do simple math and the numbers are not in favor of leasing.

Neither end is that great. So you end up with millions in the bank but never enjoyed any of it before you died. AFAIK you only get one life so live it. Don't be stupid and blow everything. You don't want to end up living in a ditch either but there is a lot of space in the middle between those two philosophies.

Kinda works out the same either way you slice it. I've bought and leased. You still can sell your lease and make money you just don't make as much because you haven't paid as much to own it.
Granted I have only leased my tacoma which holds it value so well it may not be the case with another car.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Oh man I had one of those experiences with a 4.7 v8 grand Cherokee once. Even though it was rated the same, for me the tacoma handled it better every time.

The Cherokee was replaced with a 100 series landcruiser. That got horrible mpg but towed much better than the cherokrap

I don't know much about leasing, but say you put your typical improvements to the vehicle, Weathertechs, seat covers, maybe suspension, etc. Can you get that back selling it under lease? Or do you have to yank it all off and try to sell it on Craigslist?

Yep, my grandfather busted his ass, never took a chance to play, 2 years into retirement, died of a heart attack...while literally waxing his motorhome.

It is all about balance...everyone's version is different.

You have to yank it off. Actually, in general, you have to return a lease in the same shape it came out of the factory. If you don't bend over and prepare for fee's up inside your colon.

When buying a car - it's not any different than shopping for other things. You've gotta shop around, get some information, research, research, research etc. We always request invoice (expect) it and/or ask for other perks. We'll take the sale to another dealer if we have to and get a price war.

My husband bought an Infiniti in February. He used 'TrueCar' - and he's pretty happy with the experience. He'd been researching for months....and knew what to expect going in.... ultimately, he bargained until he was happy with the deal. Afterall....you're not gonna get everything, but at least you can bargain.

In the end...you need to be happy with the sale.
