Disagree 100%. The oem pressure, are for the oem tires. Not all tires take the same pressure. When you out on new tires you should do a chalk test to figure out the correct pressure for that tire, on tour vehicle. Even adding cargo to the bed will change your pressure setting.

Thanks I plan on doing a chalk test and respond with my findings.
I have another question for you guys. I am thinking about getting Eibach pro lift kit what that entails is a coil over shock in essence a strut with snap rings for different height adjustments up to 3 inches. It is 595 dollars and comes with a rear shock set to give you one inch lift in rear. 2.5” in front and 1” in rear. Anyone have any experience with these. they make it bolt up for Tacoma’s with 6 lug wheels.

a rear shock alone will not give you any lift. Height in the rear is controlled by the leaf springs. Are you sure it doesn't come with a 1" block for the rear?

To say you disagree 100% is a bit much. If tire pressure were set based on a specific tire, why wouldn't the recommended pressure be imprinted on the rubber of that tire? There would be no need for a permanent sticker in the door jam. The sticker in the door is the recommended tire pressure for any tire. If you look, it doesn't specify which tires should be used.

Now, with that being said, I don't run the recommended pressure in mine. I typically run mine at 32-33 psi and have had good wear across the tires after 60k miles (this is not my first set of Grabber AT2 tires). Even with that, I can see that the inside is lower on tread than the outside which indicates they were slightly over inflated. Just not enough to cause the inside to go bald before the outside could catch up.

Are there factors to take into consideration? Absolutely! What is the load rating on the tire (S, D, E, etc?)? How much weight is in the truck during "normal" operation (i.e. has armor been added, does he carry a RTT in the bed, etc.)?

So when someone asks what pressure do I recommend? I'm going to tell you to go with what the mfg recommends until you see indication that a change is needed (i.e. the chalk test).

I don’t have Eibach website but that’s what they say. 2.5 in front adjustable to 3 and the shock gives you 1” in the back. I am buying their rear 1” block if I don’t get the look I am hoping for. Anyway just put new General ATX 245-75-16’s on and man they ride nice. Haven’t been in any rough stuff yet but will soon. 614126FF-6CC8-4608-AB01-4F55C820A0F1.jpg

Figure I'll give an update to these AT-Xs at 15K. Still quiet and composed as the day they were mounted. Not seeing much wear or get beat up or fading like the KO2s at 15K. Road noises slightly louder.

If there's one thing I have an issue with. These are bleeping HEAVY. I never look forward to mount these on myself. Even lift these 3" off the ground to put on the wheel studs are strenuous.

I'm gonna need new tires within the next 6 months and I was looking at these General Grabbers. My only question is how is the highway noise with these tires? I have KOs right now, came with truck but they are pretty loud when I get up to 70-80mph

I don’t have many miles on them but the few times I had the truck up to 80 mph they were very quiet. Someone with some miles on the tires maybe able to answer better. These have a 50 or 60,000 mile warranty as well the BF KO2’s do not.

    Reviving this older post here,

Got some snow up in New England today. Drove about 40 miles on the free way with about 2 inch of snow and slush. I was on 4wd. They performed great and with confidence. At around 40-55mph speeds on straightaways and bends.

I run 40 psi up on front and 38 psi in the rear fully warmed up.
    Great tires so far

265/70/17 on stock suspension. I had the AT2s on a prior vehicle. I've always had good luck with General tires.

I had grabbers a number of years ago, the AT2 I believe. I liked those and I have to say after about 1k miles on my AT/Xs I am very pleased with the ride. Noise is minimal, even on the highway. I feel like General doesn't get enough love on these boards. I <3 General.
