General Grabber AT/X - Informal Review

    I’d like to preface this with the caviet that these are the first AT tires I’ve ever purchased for the first ‘small’ truck I’ve ever owned. I’ve had a few full size trucks and a bunch of E load road oriented tires, but never this specific combination.

    1. The Tire

    Net Total: $742.64

    IMO, decent deal, not a steal but OK. If you feel otherwise, don’t let me know, I’d rather not know. Ha!

    3. Fit

    Cab Config: Access Cab
    Bed: 6’
    Drive:4WD
    Trim: SR5

    On pavement no rub whatsoever. Looks awesome to boot.

    4. On Road Manners

    So far at surface street speeds, no complaints whatsoever. No noise to mention and don’t seem to notice the added weight.

    At highway speed, no mentionable noise. It is worth mentioning though, they seem to have a bit of a ‘soft’ feel with at speed maneuvers compared to their road oriented counterparts. Hard to explain, but seem to reduce or lag in response to input as compared to a typical tire.

    In terms of comfort, in my opinion, the ride is better. My thought is bigger tires, heavier, more plys. Able to roll over and absorb just a bit more road noise than my previous tires.

    To date I have driven on dry pavement only, updates to come to in rain and snow.

    5. Off Road Manners

    TBD, will report. Light duty off road only, hopefully get some seat time in a week or so.

    I ran 285 at2 which is pretty similar to the atx. Agreed with what you said. I liked the tire and had mine for about 45k on my taco. I noticed the weight and took about 2mpg loss. 10ply definitely was nice as I never had a flat over the mileage and they saw mild off road, mainly construction sites though littered with job site debris.

    Would get again but trying a lighter tire at the moment as my commute has gone up

    Probably gonna get hurt more in town, but i noticed a 1mpg drop between my hankook dynapro's at 39lbs per tire, vs my Cooper AT3's (same size) at 46lbs per tire.
