Just received my set of Grabber ATx tires but why are my RWL letters, Raised Blue Letters? Or is that just a protective film to keep the letters white?

There is a post about it, take a look there and see what you think, I see you have Sky Silver Met. I'm old school I like White out.

Post is White Letters in or out Tires?

I’ve had my General ATX 265/70-17 LS on for 3,000 miles. They are as quiet and comfortable as the KO2s I had on my Wrangler. The Generals do pretty well in the rain, snow and the trail as well.

    I definitely recommend them.

I have 42k + on a set of these 265/75/16, mounted 7/18. I drive 600 miles a week commute to work plus other activities. Rotate and keep pressure at 37-38psi. Getting even tread wear ( currently at 12/32nds) and that’s starting at 16/32nds. No extreme off road or muddling but, they do what I ask of them from sea level to 13k asl.

I'm running these on my Tacoma and absolutely love them. Finally got to try them in the snow this past week and they did excellent. The worked well on the hard packed snow covered roads as well as the unplowed roads with nearly 20" of snow on the ground. The only disappointment is a decrease in MPG, but that is to be expected. I can answer any questions you guys have on them! I have had them through every off-road terrain at this point and have put about 5000 miles on them already.

I’m debating between these and KO2s. These are 17 dollars cheaper at my tire shop than the KO2s and also it’s a tire than not every bro out here in Minnesota has. I’m quite torn.

I up-vote the White Letters out too. I've had tire shops actually appear shocked that I wanted the white letters exposed.....I dig the look but I'm a kid of the 70's and your car wasn't sh*t unless you had WL tires.

I was between these and the KO2s. Money was not a deciding factor in any of this. I chose the ATX for the longer treadwear warranty, my previous issues with BFG tires in the past, and honestly I liked the looks of these better in person. I wanted a tire that could handle snow and inclement weather since I need to go into work regardless of the conditions. These have been great in the snow thus far, incredible in the rain (quite important on some backroads), and pretty decent in the mud and sand. Their on-road manners are great and they're just as quiet as the stock tires. I have zero regrets with these and will probably buy them again when I need new tires.

Is this one of the General tires made in USA? I grew up near their only remaining plant and know people that work there.

I'm running the ATX in Load E 285/75/16 and really dislike them. I had AT2s before and happily put 50k on them, low noise, good handling, only really had trouble hitting pooled water. Great offroad performance and rigidity. Put on the ATX after, same size, same wheels, and can't wait to get rid of them. Loud as hell, don't balance well, just a really stark contrast from how well the AT2s worked. I've had them road-forced, rebalanced multiple times, just can't seem to get them to ride well over 45 mph. Been debating trying some of those tire-balancing beads but haven't had a chance. I may just cut losses and sell these on craigslist or scrap them.

I appreciate that white out was your #1.

I don't know if it's my #1, but, any tire without will be a non-starter for my next set.

I see a (actually nice) Jeep every day walking my dogs with a set of these tires and it just looks so good.

I am at 47k miles now on them and they still look almost new....
To be honest I forgot about this thread and haven't been camping Tacoma World much lately so I'm glad you summoned me!
I will throw some calipers on them in the next couple days - but I am confident at this point they will well outlast the BFG's.

Had a chance to use them in the snow last week as well, on the highway, packed snow under warmish conditions - 34*F ish, but a couple inches accumulated and packed on the highway, and they gripped extremely well. They are every bit as good in the snow as the BFG's were. I did have one minor oh shit moment but I was going faster than I should have been and it was on an icy patch. Overall still highly recommend these.
