Just called Crutchfield again. The guy I got today seemed much more knowledgeable than yesterday. He had my call log from the last call and basically told me that the last guy was an idiot.

New guy told me exactly what you said. Cut the speaker wires out from the head unit, cap them. Splice the amp speaker wires into the existing door speaker wires. Power to power, ground to ground.

Should have it all figured out now. Will probably get to re-wiring on Saturday.

So i do installations for a living and have recently done 3 of these systems
First hook up the RCAS from the amp i to the radios front and rear inputs
Second connect the remote wire from the stereo (i think it has like a double connector) so you can add a second amp.
third run the ground cable to a piece of metal and not the stereo ground.
Forth is run the yellow wire to the battery ( not the stereo power). This is an amp and requires 15 amps by itself. The stereo uses 10amps alone. Make sure to fuse this yellow wire at the battery. This wire is 12gauge ( crutchfield usually will give you some sort of amp kit with the purchase. My customers have all gotten one with there purchase.
If you have the radio currently wired to the speakers in the car, you will need to disconnect it from there. you will cap the leads from the stereo( since you will be using the amps power now).
next connect the outputs ( speaker wires coming out of the amp and wire those to the cars speakers. Make sure to read the crossover adjustments. They can be alittle confusing, because some are upside down. alpine could have just made it an on and off to make it easy, but since this amp can be used in many ways, they complicated it. Of you are not going to run a subwoofer, then you need to figure out the switches that will make it be in full range only. Also it might have dual inputs ( I can’t remember). But you want front and rear input to the amp. Has something to do with switch 5 & 6
If you have any questions take a pic of the switches on the side of the amp and also the instructions and i can walk you through the rest. Good luck

My bad, seen this is an old post
Let us know how this sounds when you are done. Are you using factory speakers?

Has anyone have a diagram for the kta 450 to be wired up to the ilx w650? I have a harness kit from crutchfield. I just need to add the amp since everything has been installed already.
