How many pin are in the plug on your mirror? As far as I can tell, ALL Gentex 177s have a flat, single row 7 pin plug. I've yet to find a different diagram for the 7 pin mirror.

I'm starting to think that this mirror was damaged during shipping. The dimming feature does work...

I have two or three rows of pins but only 6 or so are pinned.

There are some different variations of the 177, the compass should work right away when it’s turned on and there should be a reaction to pushing the buttons.
The one button is to set the location for compass and toggles the temp compass if I remember
Did the ebay listing show this item working or plugged
in by the seller. Personally I would buy a setup from a seller that shows it working and with the sensor
from the same vehicle or get the mirror and sensor from the same vehicle so you know they are compatible from a junk yard.

Well ebay is 100 percent refund policy, just return it spend a few extra bucks from this guy as you
know it works and has ALL the wires and correct sensor and connections and you see it’s working, time is money and wasting it and your time shipping back is a pain.
I bought mine from him last year, I’m sure he picks the junk yards and resells them.

That's who I got the sensor from, but getting them respond to questions in a timely manner pushed me away.

Ok, I'm back. I contacted the seller, I shipped the defective mirror back, and received a working mirror. The compass, and temp function both work. I tested it in my truck and the temp reading was correct. The images below are on my tablet, so no temp reading.

Here's the color, in stock form.

    IMG_20180321_165445106.jpg

I removed the front cover, starting at the top edges and worked the top loose, then down, around to the bottom. I was careful not to mark the plastic with my small flat screw driver. Then, I removed the blueish colored light filter and tested a few different light filters that @mechanicjon was nice enough to send to me. As you can see, it's dark and not really changing the color of the LCD display, which I should add is the bluish green color also.
    IMG_20180321_170106945.jpg

The filters I have along with the OE filter. It looks black in the picture, but is a dark blue color.

Hmm none of them worked. Mine was exactly like yours and I put a red filter on it. Did you try stacking them?

I have not had a chance to take the mirror back out of the truck. I've been side tracked rerouting my AC lines... I'll try and check it out tomorrow afternoon.
