Gentlemen, for your consideration if you are considering Goodyear tires.

Wanted to look into this a little more. Another article I found.

    Goodyear fires shooting champ

The shooting fraternity is up in arms after hearing that one of Australia’s top sporting shooters was recently sacked from his job at Goodyear because of “blind prejudice”.

Senator David Leyonhjelm fronted Federal Parliament yesterday to defend internationally competitive shooter, David Waters, whose shooting accomplishments include several state, national and world records primarily in high-power and benchrest events.

An employee of Goodyear for 12 years, Waters was sacked in July after agreeing to help a sporting shooter who was having difficulty fitting an accessory onto her target rifle.

Time pressures due to an impending overseas world championship left Waters meeting the woman on his lunch break in the carpark under his work. To Waters’ surprise the woman brought her rifle and accessory to the meeting (with the bolt and magazine removed) and took the firearm out of her car momentarily.

That was all it took for 16 police officers to race to the scene in a flurry. Waters was escorted by police into his office on two separate occasions during the ordeal to retrieve his identification and car keys, so police could search his vehicle. Of course, he was later freed without charge because he did nothing wrong.

That wasn’t enough to Goodyear though. Upon his return to the country, Waters was suspended without pay until a disciplinary meeting, in which he was sacked.

“The decision to dismiss David had clearly been made prior to the meeting,” Senator Leyonhjelm said. “David was summarily sacked — with no compensation, no notice or notice in lieu — on the grounds that his conduct had a 'significant reputational impact' on the company.”

A letter following his dismissal said his actions “placed Goodyear in a position whereby it was in breach of its obligation to provide a safe and secure working environment for its associates,” according to Senator Leyonhjelm.

The incident is a reminder that Australia’s shooters constantly battle prejudice. “Australians are rightly proud of our Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and world championship shooters and the medals they regularly bring home,” Senator Leyonhjelm said. “Unfortunately, it seems the rest of the time they are, like Australia's shooting community more widely, treated as presumptive criminals. It has to stop.”

Senator Leyonhjelm is calling for Australians to make a stand against the appalling treatment of this man, who loyally served Goodyear for 12 years. He is calling for a boycott of Goodyear and the company’s other brand, Dunlop.

Goodyear refused to negotiate following a complaint to the Fair Work Commission, so Waters is now proceeding with arbitration.

Seems more of a Goodyear Australia problem. Not a tire problem, not Goodyear USA problem. Bad management decision, like we don't see stupid shit like that here?

it's all about intolerance with no wiggle room to evaluate each case on it's own. Like the little kid suspended for eating a pop tart into a shape of a gun. The kid suspended for playing with a make believe bow and arrow. The kid kicked out of school for drawing a picture of a gun. This world has gone bananas.

Been looking on TireRack at the other options. Looks like the Firestone Destination AT might be a good alternative. I have nothing against the BFG, but I do not need an LT tire (weight).
