The thing is that I had no maps in the GPS, and I kept reading all over the place that you have to upload maps to the GPS/

    Either way...

I finally got around to messing with the GPS, and uploaded some geocache locations into it. I found my first one today. :woot: Wow you can really find some cool places, it was in the middle of a neighborhood, had to go into a creekbed, down the side of a bridge, and man it looked like a different place down there, haha. It looked very secluded. It took me half an hour to find it (BYOP) didn't have one though.

It was about a mile and a half from where I live, so I hoped on the bike and pedaled my happy ass over there. Now I need to get a GPS mount for my bike too! :D Saw some onlie and all I gotta do is order now.

:woot: happy geocaching guys and gals

I started a couple years ago and found about 16 before I got too busy to go and stopped. Maybe if I ever have some free time. It can be pretty frustrating sometimes though... Pretty fun though if you are going with people who understand the concept

My husband and I have been heavy into geocaching here lately. Got our Premium membership, bought a dedicated GPS (so not to use the iphones too much). We've got about 75 caches found so far. We have two hidden and 2 travel bugs in-route. We're trying to get a cache-a-day for as long as we can!! Can't wait to hide more. It's difficult hiding new ones beczuse you can't find spots to hide them since they're all over the place around here!
    Great fun!!

I've been geocaching for just over a year, 1,221 finds, 62 hinds, 8 states. I'm Obsessed with it, can't go anywhere without looking for at least 1 cache.

    Bump for Geocaching!

Steve and I are close to 800 finds in only 6 months. Lovin this shit!!

The places we've hiked have been incredible. We got our bikes out of the shed (after 15 years) and started riding!! We've actually been kayaking for the first time too.

If you have kids..... love the outdoors..... you really should check it out.

Just got notified of two of my 10 year old caches being found again/ still... one in Del Mar, CA and one in Vista, CA. I also placed a virtual cache at the Carrizo Stage Coach station site that someone found again last week.

A virtual cache is just a location GPS'd (no treasure box) and when you get to that spot, you post what you see there to confirm it is the place.

I enjoy caching... I tend to go when I have free time. After finding nearly all the caches within a 15 mile radius of home, I have to go off to get them now!

    It is great fun!

Lately, my husband and I have been looking to fill-in our fizzy chart. It's the overall chart of 81 different terrain/difficulty ratings. We have 15 spots left to fill. Last weekend we DNF'd a cache that was supposed to be in a creek. I put my waders on and was walking around searching in this creek for 1.5 hours. Turns out - nobody has found that cache since before the Sept flooding. It was gone.... It was a multi cache, so we'll have to go back when the weather is warmer.

And we're working on a Lonely Cache Challenge (puzzle). You get points for finding caches that haven't been found in 3 months or more. Yesterday, we found a cache in a series that hadn't been found since December 2010. Got 20 points!!

Do you guys have a local group of cachers that you hang out with? If you don't, you should start one. Post up an Event at a local restaurant....meet & greet. It's great having a network of local people you can call for hints, assist with difficult caches, and even group hikes/outings.

We have 951 finds right now. We hope to have 1000 before April!!
