All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
most certainly, I have used them a good bit sense they have come out. On my trucks, crawlers and SxS. The convenience is huge, and if for some reason the remote battery dies, just grab the old cable controller and go old school.
It’s just super nice after using one.

As long as you have a wired backup, I guess you're good. I did not realize they came with that.

    Hmmm... That changes things.................

There have been a couple situations that the remote really helped me. One in particular I had to winch the SXS up a gully that the cable wouldn’t have reached.
I had to get out as the RMAX was about to roll backwards down a steep incline, so I winched from the embankment.
Not ideal, but then again it was too sketchy to stay in there.

Also potentially alleviates one more person holding a controller in the danger zone

Yeah I have the smittybilt x20 and it came both wired and wireless. I have yet had to use the wire. Wireless is really nice when you need to walk around a access the situation as you pull.

I will say that the Synthetic rope is a must…no more kinks or heavy ass line to drap. WAY safer in all regards. I still use a winch blanket, as you should to deflect things if needed.
All in all, the winch has saved my ass building this giant post log fence up here. Having tree savers and snatch blocks to maneuver things in your yard is clutch!

Yep. Zero wheeling in my truck these days. If I need an offroading fix, there are dedicated toys for that…insert SxS. And their capabilities are so far beyond what I’d ever contemplate doing with my DD its just silly.

Doesn’t mean I’ll never put a winch or even an off-road bumper on my truck though. Dissent had some Tacoma bumpers in stock recently, which is super rare for them being primarily LC guys. I don’t love his rectangle fog light application, but the welding from that shop is pure art.

Never felt I'd need a winch either, but I scored a Warn 9000i for $50 last year that I couldn't pass up. I then spent the price of a Badlands winch rebuilding the thing and wrapping it in a Warn synthetic rope. So far, in my case at least, it's been worth it just using it to rip bushes out of the flower beds around the house. :D

HF has 2 different winches on sale right now…. 9500 lb wire cable $309 and the 12,000 synthetic rope $579. I wish they had the 9500 with synthetic rope and wireless remote.

Saw some Tacoma pro wheels with tires on FB marketplace when I was glancing recently. They were the previous gen Tacoma pro if that matters, and 16” wheels.

Honestly I have no clue. I don’t Facebook so I’m not at all savvy or familiar with it. Simply stumbled on them within what I think was general automotive marketplace in/around my region.

Found one of them. I just use searchtempest.com and search Facebook marketplace.
