Spent last weekend camping and mountain biking in the local mountains.

Spent our fifth night in the Mountain Hardwear Trango 3 which performed flawlessly.

So we took a trip to Moab the first week of June this year, celebration of our 2nd anniversary. We camped at Canyonlands Campground in downtown Moab, which was just okay. The night time and early morning town noise (cars, dumpsters being dumped etc.) was a real let down, so definitely our last time camping there. Plus, they designated us with a tent site that was located right next to a gate access, that was constantly being opened and closed during our stay. This was a major PITA, as the gate was weak on the hinges and scccrrrraaaaped across the dry dirt each time, not to mention the traffic going right by our tent and campfire.

Nonetheless, we had a great time checking out OTHER campsites in the area, and mountain biking at Deadhorse Point State Park. The trails and views up there (off of Highway 313) we spectacular. I actually don't think there is a bad view in Moab...cept' for the back of the motel next to our campsite. ;)

We also explored the Shafer/Potash Road/White Rim Trail, which was incredible.

This was an exciting drive down the Shafer Switchbacks, and then along a short section of the White Rim Trail (about 6 miles of the 100).

We visited the Gooseneck Overlook, Musselman Arch, as well as Thelma & Louise Point. Most of the White Rim Trail vantage points we stopped at had great views of the Colorado River.

The White Rim trail is something we definitely want to come back and run full bore, as it really requires a 2 day overland experience to get the full effect.

This shot was taken at the infamous "Thelma & Louise Point". You can almost see Brad Pitt's acting career smashed below on the rocks...;)

I'll try to get a few more shots from the trip, as well also tried to tackle La Sall Pass, but we hit snow at 9,200' and had to turn back. Another incredible Moab area trail to be explored for sure!

On our way back from Moab the windshield washer started to act up...as in "no worky."

I did some studying here on TW, and have narrowed it down to the pump. Pulled the pump yesterday, a very easy access (passenger side front) and the most difficult part was separating the connector.

Ordered a new pump on Amazon for $19 which will be here tomorrow...thanks Prime!

I throw up some install photos when the little black cylinder gets here. :headbang:

Dry windshield blues? Read (and look) on...

My new windshield washer pump arrived today (Amazon said so) and I set out for this lengthy install.

Just have to say, one of the main reasons I picked my Gen 1 Tacoma was the ease of parts acquisition, and a vast market for my rig. This simple fix just solidifies my decision to purchase a Toyota and...(right up there with marrying my wife, but not quite ) as a move in the "smarter" direction.

Very happy, and not a dry windshield in the house...

So...late last year, I installed a set of HID lights with a friend. Actually, he did the install while I worked on other projects on the truck. We pulled apart (after baking) my stock headlamps and installed the projectors in the stock shells, rebaked, painted the reflectors to match the truck (black, for the terminator effect), and completed all the wiring. I also took the time to purchase a polishing kit for the lenses, as they were pretty pitted/frosty from age and exposure.

All was good...or so I thought.

The light output was indeed much "cleaner," a definite brighter white than the stock, but there was a definite "line" of darkness vs. brightness with the HID's. I expected that, and learned to get used to the light pattern "cut-off" of the HID's. What I didn't expect was the unintended impact the HID ballast/generator would have on my ability to transmit and receive on my ham radio, as well as interrupting (with static) any AM or FM radio broadcast that I would try to enjoy while driving.

For obvious reasons, this made overland adventuring at night a very interesting game...or ham radio on/lights off/off road lights on, as well as cross country driving to Moab, NorCal, etc. at night with CD's (so 2003, I know, but my stereo is OEM Toyota) spinning in my dash as the only source of "stay awake" music.

Long story short...I ordered a new set of stock OEM headlights for $50 (yes, both pass and drivers side lights for $50) and am prepping for the de-retro-fit of my HID lights.

    The boxes...

More before and after photos to come as the devolution of my HID Project hits the driveway.
